Adam I, Emperor of Adammia and Jonathan I, Emperor of Austenasia meet in-person for the first time at the Imperial Residence in Wrythe as part of Austenasia's tenth Independence Day celebrations on 15 September 2018.

In the Empire of Adammia, foreign relations are the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, though only the Monarch can grant diplomatic recognition (usually on the advice of the Ministry). Multilateral treaties can be ratified after the Monarch has signed them by the Ruling Council. Foreign affairs is mainly governed by Imperial Decrees XIII and XX.

Adammia joined the Grand Unified Micronational on 12 May 2013, in which it eventually became fairly influential; Adammic delegate Emperor Adam I was Chair of the GUM from September 2014 to December 2014 and from April 2015 to July 2015. However, the collapse of the GUM as an organisation, along with Emperor Adam's discomfort with a number of micronationalists in the MicroWiki community, led to Adammia becoming increasingly withdrawn from international affairs in 2015. When the GUM was revived as an organisation in 2016, Adammia once again became a full member, but it would remain fairly inactive until 2018, when Emperor Adam returned to chair the GUM for two back-to-back terms from July 2018 to June 2019. The success of these terms, which saw Adammia hosting the 2019 GUM Birmingham Summit and promoting the Wrythe and Edgbaston Conventions, led to Adammia becoming one of the most influential nations in the MicroWiki community by 2019. However, Emperor Adam would generally withdraw from the MicroWiki community for a second time in 2021. Since then, Adammia has generally focussed on the GUM, where Emperor Adam served a record-breaking fifth term as Chair in 2022, and on a limited number of bilateral relationships, mostly with fellow British micronations. In October 2023, Adammia announced that it would be establishing an Association of British Micronations alongside Austenasia and Lundenwic.

Main article: Adammia and the Grand Unified Micronational

As of 2023, Adammia is amongst the longest-serving GUM member states, alongside Austenasia, Wyvern and Mercia. In addition to his five terms as Chair, Emperor Adam has at various times served as Vice-Chair, Supreme Justice, and in a number of other minor roles. He is presently the Director-General.

Association of British Micronations

Adammia will be a founding member of the ABM, with Emperor Adam due to serve as a permanant trustee.

Bilateral relations

Micronations allied with Adammia

Emperor Adam I welcomes James Frisch of the Serene Beaconite Republic to Imperial City at the Adammia-United Kingdom border as Adammia hosts its first state visit as part of its tenth Foundation Day celebrations on 15 April 2023.

Since renouncing its treaties of alliance with Nolland and the Mohawk Empire, Adammia has not had any formal military alliances.

Micronations with a mutual recognition treaty with Adammia

Emperor Adam I shakes hands with Ned Hilton of Wazakhstan after signing a treaty on 5 June 2018.
Emperor Adam I and Tsar Thomas establish the Cardiff Pact on 17 August 2018.
  • Mercia was the first ever micronation to sign a treaty of mutual recognition with Adammia, when it was known as Burnham on 8 July 2013. It was the first nation to recognise Adammia as well as the first nation which Adammia recognised. Mercia is traditionally seen in Adammia as an informal ally, and the two nations have very amicable relations, with their respective Head of States exchanging gifts: Lord Richard I has been made a Knight of the Order of Adammia, whilst Emperor Adam I was made Count of Penmine and Spildcastle, a subdivision of Clyro in Mercia. Adam I was sporadically active in Mercian politics, at one point becoming Deputy Prime Minister in 2016, but later resigned his citizenship and his noble title due to political differences in 2020.
  • The Kingdom of Wyvern signed a treaty of mutual recognition with Adammia on 5 August 2013. On 1 January 2020, Wyvern's Holy Roman Empire recognised Adam I's claim to the title of Emperor, and Adammia recognised King Quentin I as Holy Roman Emperor, as part of a trilateral treaty between Adammia, Wyvern and Austenasia. Adammia and Wyvern have a long history of co-operation in the Grand Unified Micronational. Given Ashukovo's inactivity and political differences with Mercia, Wyvern has perhaps the oldest diplomatic relationship with Adammia which is still significant.
  • Austenasia The Empire of Austenasia was recognised by Imperial Decree XIII on 7 September 2013. On 23 May 2018, Adammia and Austenasia signed a Treaty of Mutual Recognition and Friendship. Emperor Adam is the 11th cousin once removed of Jonathan I, Emperor of Austenasia, and the two personally have a strong friendship. They met in-person for the first time on 15 September 2018, when Emperor Adam was invited to Wrythe as part of Austenasia's 10th Independence Day celebrations. This was Emperor Adam's first ever official state visit to another micronation, and it saw both nations becoming some of the first signatories to the Wrythe Convention. However, in April 2019 many Adammic politicians criticised Austenasia due to its constitutional amendment which effectively prohibited same-sex marriage in that nation; this culminated in the Ruling Council passing a motion of condemnation. Both nations collaborated on organising the 2019 GUM Birmingham Summit, where both nations signed the Edgbaston Convention. On 1 January 2020, another treaty was signed under which Austenasia recognised Adam I's claim to the title of Emperor under the Imperium doctrine. This treaty was trilateral between Adammia, Austenasia and Wyvern's Holy Roman Empire, all of which now recognise each other as holding Imperium. After the coronavirus pandemic, the two emperors met again on 14 August 2021 along with Mike Lewis to discuss plans for a possible UK-focussed micronational association. At two ceremonies held on 5 and 7 November 2022, Emperor Adam served as a groomsman to Emperor Jonathan at his wedding to Princess Hannah. Both nations took part in the GUM summit in December 2022. In October 2023, Adammia hosted the Austenasian Emperor and Empress for a state visit to White Gold Palace, where both nations signed the Charter of the Association of British Micronations. • The Kingdom of Überstadt signed a treaty of mutual recognition with Adammia on 15 January 2014. The two nations have interacted occasionally since then, especially after Überstadt and Adammia joined the "rebooted" GUM.
  • Florenia The Kingdom of Florenia signed a treaty of mutual recognition with Adammia on 19 January 2014. However, the two nations have barely interacted at all since the treaty was signed.
  • Grand Duchy of Flandrensis The former Flandrensisian Commonwealth signed a treaty of mutual recognition with Adammia on 29 March 2015. The two nations have had minimal interactions since then. After the Commonwealth disbanded, the treaty carried over to the constituent states of the Commonwealth.
  • The Imperial Grand Duchy of Lundenwic was recognised by the Elections and Diplomacy Act 2016 on 14 May 2016. In July 2017, Adammia and Lundenwic signed a mutual recognition treaty. Emperor Adam met Grand Duke Julian and Mike Lewis for the first time at Austenasia's 10th Independence Day celebrations in Wrythe on 15 September 2018. Emperor Adam met Lewis again on 14 August 2021 alongside Emperor Jonathan I to discuss plans for a possible UK-focussed micronational association.
  • The Abeldane Empire and Commonwealth was recognised by the Diplomacy Act 2017 on 7 July 2017. In September 2017, Adammia and Abelden signed a mutual recognition treaty. Since then, the two nations have interacted very little, and relations remain cordial on paper.
  • The Kingdom of Wazakhstan signed a treaty of mutual recognition with Adammia on 5 June 2018. Wazakhstan shares very close ties with Adammia, as both nations are in close proximity within the Birmingham Sector. Wazakhstan's Prime Minister Ned Hilton is the only foreign micronational leader to date to have visited Adammia and to have addressed Adammia's Ruling Council. Adammia and Wazakhstan have a dual citizenship agreement, under which each state agrees not to discriminate by an applicant's status in the other nation when processing citizenship applications. As of 31 December 2018, Wazakhstan has become the only micronation to have a land border with Adammia, with its Oblast of Goodbold being an enclave of the territory of Ashoria.
  • The Tsardom of Nolland was recognised by Imperial Decree XIII on 7 September 2013. As a former member of the Wurtige bloc, Nolland had informal interactions with Adammia on a number of occasions, and the two nations had somewhat amicable relations in Adammia's earlier years, before Nolland became inactive. When Nolland was revitalised in 2018, Adammia and Nolland quickly developed strong ties, due to the fact that both Emperor Adam I and the Tsar of Nolland were members of the UK Young Liberals; in July 2018, Adammia and Nolland signed a mutual recognition treaty. Through Nolland, Adam I was introduced to other YL micronationalists from Talossa and Herbatrea, creating an informal grouping of micronations linked to the Young Liberals. In August 2018, Adammia and Nolland's heads of state met in person and signed the Cardiff Pact, establishing a military alliance between the two countries whilst also providing for dual citizenship. Emperor Adam described the relations between the two nations as a "special relationship", an apparent reference to be so-called Special Relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States. However, by 2021 Nolland had again become inactive, and in December 2022 Adammia renounced the Cardiff Pact, terminating the military alliance and dual citizenship arrangement. However, the July 2018 mutual recognition treaty remains in effect.
  • The Republic of Ashukovo was the second ever nation to sign a treaty of mutual recognition with Adammia in 2013, when it was known as the Ashukov Federation. It was later recognised again by the Diplomacy Act 2017 on 7 July 2017. After this iteration of Ashukovo became inactive, Adammia revoked recognition on 16 May 2019. Most recently, Adammia and Ashukovo renewed their original 2013 treaty on 17 June 2020, re-establishing relations between the two countries.
  • The Kingdom of Hrafnarfjall signed a Treaty of Support and Cooperation with Adammia on 17 June 2020.
  • The Commonwealth of New Virginia signed a mutual recognition treaty with Adammia on 17 June 2020.
  • The Principality of Wildflower Meadows was recognised by Imperial Decree LXXXIII on 18 November 2022. Emperor Adam first met Princess Hannah at Austenasia's 10th Independence Day celebrations on 15 September 2018, when they both signed the Wrythe Convention. The two leaders next met for two ceremonies held on 5 and 7 November 2022, when Princess Hannah married Emperor Jonathan I, at which Emperor Adam served as a groomsman. On 4 October 2023, Emperor Adam hosted Princess Hannah (alongside Emperor Jonathan) for a state visit to Adammia, and the two nations signed a mutual recognition treaty. Princess Hannah is a Dame Commander of the Order of Adammia, and Emperor Adam is a Knight Protector of the Order of the Poppy.
