A referendum was held in the Empire of Adammia on 28 July 2018 to determine if the proposed Fifth Amendment to the Supreme Directive should be adopted.

Background

As part of its November 2017 manifesto, the Liberal Party proposed changing the voting system from first-past-the-post to instant-runoff voting. The party drafted the Electoral Reform Act 2018, which passed through the Ruling Council on 6 June 2018. The Act compelled the Emperor to draft and propose a constitutional amendment which would change the voting system to IRV. The Fifth Amendment was formally proposed on 19 July 2017.
