Her Imperial Highness Emperor Mother Jayne Marie McKenna DGCM is the former first Prime Minister of the Empire of Adammia. She is the mother of HIM Emperor Adam I, and is the Councilor for Greater Tytannia. She was formerly the Councilor for Maternia province, as well as a former Minister of Citizenship and Minister of Information. She founded the Moderate Party of Adammia on 18 July 2015. She now acts as Minister of National Development and Culture.

Non-micronational life

McKenna was born Jayne Hall to Reginald Hall and Winifred Hall (née Boxall) on 18 May 1968. Despite receiving a diploma in Music in her British education, she went on to study nursing and has been working as a nurse since the 1990s. Her involvement with brass banding led her to meet Kevin Belcher; she was also the bassist for the pop/rock band Isis in the 1990s, which Kevin was the guitarist for. Jayne and Kevin were later married. Her first child, Adam Belcher, was born in 1998, followed by Daniel Belcher in 1999 and Jake Belcher in 2004.

Belcher is a previous bass guitar player for the Yorkshire-based folk band The Durbervilles. She split with Kevin in 2009 and met her current partner, now-Lord McKenna, two years later. She has also become known within her social circles for her poetry, and is arguably Adammia's first and only poet. Politically, she is a noted centrist, stating that she likes certain policies of all of the UK's major parties, but in recent years she has voted for the Liberal Democrats in support of her son Emperor Adam, who is a Liberal Democrat candidate, and when a Liberal Democrat candidate has not been available she has instead voted for the Labour Party.

On 22 June 2019, the Emperor Mother married Lord McKenna, her third marriage.

Micronational career

Jayne Belcher first became aware of micronationalism on 21 April 2013 when Tytannia was claimed by her son, now Emperor Adam I. She became an Adammic citizen several days later on 24 April when her house was annexed as Maternia province.

As the only resident of Maternia, Belcher was easily able to elect herself as Minister (now Councilor) of Maternia on 18 July 2013. As a result, she became a key member of the Ruling Council. She went on to win Adammia's first National Elections on 25 August 2013, becoming the Empire's first Prime Minister. She appointed most of her Cabinet on 1 September.

Belcher's involvement with the micronation of Adammia has varied throughout its history. She has made several key contributions, such as purchasing the materials used to create the Empire's first fabric flag, and organising the first Foundation Day celebrations on 12 April 2014. She was re-elected Prime Minister for a second term in August 2014 and a third term in 2015, but finally lost to her partner Sir Paul McKenna in the 2016 National Election. When McKenna appointed his cabinet, Belcher was made Minister of Citizenship, replacing Emperor Adam.

Following Prince Jake's victory in the 2017 election, the Moderates found themselves as an opposition party, with the Emperor Mother assuming the position of de-facto Leader of the Opposition. However, when the Empire of Adammia Act 2017 was passed two months later, the Emperor Mother lost her seat as Maternia was downgraded to a county, and effectively retired as a politician.

The Emperor Mother returned to Adammic politics in a minor role after being elected to the House of Citizens at the #6 position on the Liberal-Moderate Party's list in the 2019 general election. She spent the term as a backbench government MP. In 2020, the party transferred her back to the Ruling Council, standing her unopposed as Councilor for Greater Tytannia (she was also again on the party's list for the House, but was not re-elected there). In February 2022, she became one of the first individuals to be awarded Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the Meerkat, the highest chivalric honour in Adammia.
