Paternia was a province of the Empire of Adammia located in the region of South Adammia. It was 284m² in size and consisted of a single terraced house located at 56 Bournbrook Road in Selly Oak, Birmingham. The site is currently part of the United Kingdom and its occupants have no known affiliation with Adammia.
The name Paternia was derived from a popular name for the household invented by its residents, the "Land of Dads", which was a typical Paternian English phrase.

Paternia was known for its unique dialect of English. Primarily spoken in a Southern English accent, Paternian English had a number of distinguishing features; most notable was the use of "boy" to refer to most kinds of inanimate objects, where it was often preceded by an adjective which described the object (e.g. "tall boy"). Another feature was the use of "dad" to refer to an individual, either male or female, of great respect; it should not be confused with the so-called "daddy kink", and indeed Paternians would stress that there were no sexual connotations to being referred to in this way. In fact, being referred to as a "dad" was generally considered a great honour.
