Paternian dialect
Paternia was known for its unique dialect of English. Primarily spoken in a Southern English accent, Paternian English had a number of distinguishing features; most notable was the use of "boy" to refer to most kinds of inanimate objects, where it was often preceded by an adjective which described the object (e.g. "tall boy"). Another feature was the use of "dad" to refer to an individual, either male or female, of great respect; it should not be confused with the so-called "daddy kink", and indeed Paternians would stress that there were no sexual connotations to being referred to in this way. In fact, being referred to as a "dad" was generally considered a great honour.
