Lady Madam Amity Gilmour DOV is a former Deputy Leader of the Liberal-Moderate Party in the Empire of Adammia and former Member of the House of Citizens. She was formerly the Minister of Defence and Minister of National Development. She is currently the governor of the Colony of Xanada, but is otherwise retired as a politician.
Non-micronational life
Gilmour was born in the United Kingdom and grew up in France, where she attended film school. In 2012, Gilmour founded the Forum Wars online roleplaying group on the now-defunct Punchwood forums (the fan forums of noted YouTuber Paul Soares Jr.). It was through Forum Wars that she and her friend Alex Helliker met Adam Belcher, leading to their eventual involvement in Adammia.
On 27 November 2019, Gilmour's daughter Luna Gilmour was born. She was the first ever person to be granted Adammic citizenship by right of birth (as opposed to as a result of annexation or immigration).
Since May 2024 she has been writing for the satirical Hard Drive website.
Micronational career
Gilmour, as a member of the Ordo Vladius, was one of the first people to become aware of Adammia after its foundation in April 2013, and one of the first people to become a citizen. She founded the Xanada V Sportica forum-based roleplaying game, from which Adammia took its name. For many years, Gilmour's involvement in Adammia was minimal, although she did briefly act as a newsreader for Adammic Online Broadcasting, announcing the results of the 2014 national election.
Gilmour's involvement in Adammic politics began in September 2018 when she wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Lord Helliker criticising the merger of the Liberal and Moderate parties, as a long-time Moderate supporter. She also launched the Daily Rag, a satirical tabloid that primarily attacked the new Storm Party. Though the Liberal-Moderates distanced themselves from the Daily Rag, Gilmour did eventually join the party and helped to produce its 2018 manifesto.
Gilmour became an active politician when, in September 2019, she was approached by Emperor Adam I about standing as a candidate for the Liberal-Moderates in the upcoming general election to the new House of Citizens. Gilmour was keen to campaign and was given a relatively high position of #3 on the Lib-Mod list. In order to make Gilmour a member of the LMP Executive Committee, she was quickly elected as the party's first Deputy Leader. Meanwhile, on 19 September, Gilmour's home was claimed as the Adammic colony of Xanada, of which she was made governor.
Gilmour became an MP at the general election, and she successfully nominated Lib-Mod leader Lord Charles Michael for the office of Prime Minister. She subsequently became Minister of National Development, as well as interim Minister of Patriotism whilst the department was being dismantled. After the Ministry of Patriotism was dissolved by the Government Ministries Act 2019 on 29 October, Gilmour became Minister of Defence. As Minister of National Development, she played a key role in organising the 2020 Adammia Games, and she became a member of the Board of the newly founded Adammic Chess Association.
Gilmour was re-elected to the House in the 2020 general election, but the Liberal-Moderates subsequently entered opposition. Following increasing inactivity, she resigned from the House and as Deputy Leader of the Lib-Mods on 26 March 2021, citing her need to focus on work and raising her daughter Luna. Her seat in the House was succeeded by Lord James Green.
