The Lindenrouge Group, also abbreiviated occasionally to LG, is a political and economic pact and formal international intergovernmental cooperation of five states: the Empire of Aenopia, State of Norton, Kingdom of Salanda, Jarldom of Hjalvik and the Principality of Sancratosia.[2] The Lindenrouge Group is comparable to macronational alliances such as Benelux, Visegrád Group, and in some aspects, the micronational Conference of Santiago. The Lindenrouge Group was established on 13 April 2022 with the signing of the Lindenrouge Accord, with the agreement formally coming into effect on 13 April 2022.[1]
The Lindenrouge Group was conceptualised in September 2021 as an Aenopian-led alliance under the name of GRAEQA between the 3 nations surrounding the territory of New Llandudno and Subsidiaries; namely the Grand Duchy of Grindle, Qaflana and Vishwamitra, however primarily focusing on the former two states. Grindle would later be exchanged for Ponderosa Hills due to the latter's close relationship with Aenopia and Qaflana, whilst the former suffered from severe activity. Despite this, the concept for an Aenopian-led organisation originated in August 2020 under the guise of the proposed Aenopian Commonwealth, intended to serve as a cultural, economic and defensive union comprised of a collection of states surrounding Aenopian territories, namely Plushunia and Qaflana.
The primary purpose of the Lindenrouge Group is to serve as an intergovernmental pact intended to foster relations between Aenopia, Norton, Salanda, Hjalvik and Sancratosia.
History
Pre-history
Various organisations led by Aenopia or a joint consortium of Aenopia and another nation have been conceptualised by Simon Reeve, Emperor of Aenopia.
The earliest influence for the Lindenrouge Group in regards to leadership was an August 2020 proposal for an Aenopian Commonwealth. The concept involved offering membership to nations bordering Aenopian territories, at the time being Plushunia and Qaflana.[b] As part of this, member states would benefit from diplomatic, economic and defensive cooperation with Aenopia and other members. The concept was initially proposed in Senedd Aenopia in August 2020, however was heavily criticised for the vagueness of the proposal.
The biggest influence on the present day Lindenrouge Group was GRAEQA, later known as PHAEQA. GRAEQA was conceptualised in September 2021 as an Aenopian-led alliance between the 3 nations surrounding the territory of New Llandudno and Subsidiaries; namely the Grand Duchy of Grindle, Qaflana and Vishwamitra, however primarily focusing on the former two states. Grindle would later be exchanged for Ponderosa Hills due to severe inactivity within Grindle, whilst Ponderosa Hill's close relationship with Aenopia and Qaflana facilitated in its choice as a replacement state. GRAEQA sufered heavily from disinterest from Ponderosa Hills and Qaflana, which eventually led to the concept's downfall in November 2021. Many of the same concepts and projects were transferred from GRAEQA to the Lindenrouge Group.
Establishment
Diplomatic relations between Aenopia and Norton were initiated following the signing of the Mill Green Treaty by both sides on 25 October 2021.[5] Talks between both states had previously been initiated by Aenopia a few days before ratification, with the treaty being presented on 24 October 2021. Relations between Aenopia and Norton were amicable, despite little communication between either parties.
I myself have been involved with the State of Norton since December last year, and I have been [Deputy Prime Minister] since March 2022. The President himself is a notable, kind, smart, and adaptable micronationalist. For us to have relations with the State of Norton, both nations could benefit greatly, and with two very good heads of state in both Aenopia and Norton, I believe diplomacy is a smart plan.
— MS Thomas Jacobs on the topic of strengthening relations between Aenopia and Norton, 2 April 2022
Nortonian delegates would propose the possibility of enacting closer relations between Norton and Aenopia on 1 April 2021. The proposal was unanimously passed through Senedd Aenopia the following day, thereby formally initiating talks between Aenopia and Norton. Out of the proposals for strengthening relations between Aenopia and Norton, one involved the estbalishment of a small alliance akin to Benelux or the ill-fated GRAEQA proposal. The proposed alliance would involve both Aenopia and Norton in addition to one or more state, initially proposed to be a British micronation. Nations proposed by either parties included Waterside Park, Lytera and Hjalvik, however the Kingdom of Salanda would be invited in the end based on the recommendations of Rafe Burfield. In addition to inviting Salanda, an invitation was extended to the Kingdom of Pontunia after previously showing interest in establishing an organisation akin to the Lindenrouge Group in July 2021, however Pontunia would neither accept nor decline the invitation.
The final two member states of the Lindenrouge Group were Hjalvik and Sancratosia, both of which were invited on 6 April 2022. Hjalvik was initially considered early into the creation of the Lindenrouge Group, as both Aenopia and Hjalvik maintained amicable relations via a mutual recognition treaty.[6] Sancratosia was the final member state to be invited to the Lindenrouge Group after being invited shortly after Hjalvik. Unlike the other four founding member states of the Lindenrouge Group, Sancratosia was the only member without a presence in the United Kingdom, despite initial plans to establish the Lindenrouge Group as an organisation dedicated solely to British micronationalism.[c]
The Lindenrouge Accord was formally proposed to the invited states on 12 April 2022 for ratification, which would by proxy lead to the formal establishment of the Lindenrouge Group. All five member states would ratify the Accord, with the final member state ratifying the Accord on 13 April 2022.[1] This in turn led to the formal establishment of the Lindenrouge Group on 13 April 2022.[2]

Member states
Due to the nature of the Lindenrouge Group, membership requirements are stringent. An application may take as long as two months to transition from the initial declaration of interest towards ascention to membership status.
To become a member, a country must ratify the Lindenrouge Accord, before notifying one of the four member states regarding their accession to member status. Following this, the Membership Officer would compile a report into the applicant country, which is presented to the legislature of the Lindenrouge Group for review and approval. In addition, a country must fulfil certain criteria in order to be considered eligible for membership. Evaluation of a country's fulfilment of the criteria is the responsibility of the Membership Officer, and by proxy the legislature of the Lindenrouge Group. The application is then subject to a vote by delegates, in which case a member state will be elevated to observership if successful. As an observer, the member state wil observe the Lindenrouge Group for up to one month, before delegates convene to either expel the country or instate it as a member state.

Notes
- ↑ National languages of member states recognised as official languages.
- ↑ Present day nations such as Vishwamitra and Grindle would also be invited, however neither would establish a presence near to Aenopia until February[3][4] and September 2021 respectively.
- ↑ If it had accepted its invitation, Pontunia would have been akin to Sacrantosia as a non-British micronation.
