The front page of a Constitutional Inference by the Supreme Court of Salanda.

The Supreme Court of Salanda is the national Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Salanda. The Supreme Court of Salanda has not really heard any large cases yet in its history, however it does hear lots of minor cases. Due to the size of the Kingdom of Salanda, the Supreme Court of Salanda is its only court and carries out the day to day operations of an average court. However the Supreme Court of Salanda works on things called ‘Constitutional Inferences’ this is where there needs to be an interpretation of the Constitution of Salanda known as the Basic Foundation Laws that does not fit into a particular issue. In this case which is legalised by the Constitution the Supreme Court of Salanda will interpret the sentence of the Constitution so that it fits into that issue if necessary to help and fix the problem. The Constitutional Inference will then be documented and stored and set a precedent should that issue arise again.

History

Before the Constitution of Salanda, Salanda had ambiguous court system. The Supreme Court of Salanda was officially established by the Constitution of Salanda, on the 13 October 2021 however the Solo Party, the governing party of Salanda did not have any official justices on the Supreme Court of Salanda before December 2022 as it argued that a full term of 2 years couldn’t be validly held because the Constitution of Salanda came into force in October 2021 so an appointment should not be held until October 2023 but due to public pressure they gave in in December 2022 appointing Elias I as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Salanda with more judges appointed following the initial appointment of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Salanda, before these official appointments legal independence advisory practitioners took on the roles of justices in the Supreme Court of Salanda to fill the temporary vacancy in an acting position which took place then.

Nowadays the Supreme Court of Salanda functions with officially appointed and elected judges with no vacancies happening with justices serving 2 year fixed terms which are renewable indefinitely in an official capacity.
