Sancratosians (Lingua Franca Nova: Sancratosianes) are individuals associated with the Principality of Sancratosia. Identification as a Sancratosian is predicated upon embracing the core values and principles of Sancratosia, as well as integrating Lingua Franca Nova expressions into everyday speech, which are considered foundational aspects of their Sancratosian identity.
The Principality of Sancratosia operates under the framework of civic nationalism, emphasizing allegiance to its ideals rather than ethnic background. Ethnocentrism is explicitly rejected, with citizenship determined by one's commitment to and participation in the principles of the Principality, rather than by their ethnicity.
Population
Demographics
The population of Sancratosia predominantly consists of individuals who have been naturalized as citizens. Naturalization is available to individuals aged 13 and above, with the age of majority set at 16 for voting and candidacy in elections. The majority of Sancratosians are of working age and predominantly identify as male, with an average age of around 30 years.
Citizenship
The Principality of Sancratosia categorizes its citizens into two distinct statuses: nationals and residents. Both categories enjoy full civil rights and have access to ePorteta, the official intranet portal.
Acquisition of nationality is not automatic and requires validation by the Ministry of State. Applications are reviewed individually, and dual nationality is not recognized. Citizenship from another nation results in the automatic loss of Sancratosian nationality.[b] The Sovereign Princess holds the authority over the acquisition and reacquisition of nationality.
Residency[c] is typically granted automatically upon request and is lost only upon establishing permanent residence in a foreign country without intent to return.
Culture
The culture of Sancratosia draws heavily from Canadian, particularly Québécois, influences, yet maintains distinct characteristics shaped by Lingua Franca Nova as the official language and its diverse population composed of naturalized individuals from around the globe.
Languages
The official language of Sancratosia is Lingua Franca Nova, colloquially known as Elefen. Additionally, English and French hold the status of national languages within the Principality.
Gestuno, Italian and Portuguese are "promoted languages" in Sancratosia, each enjoying a special legal recognition.
Religion
Sancratosia is a secular state where the monarchy derives its authority not from divine right but from the consent of the people, distinguishing it from traditional monarchies. The Principality upholds freedom of religion as a fundamental right.
Due to its inclusive naturalization process, the religious demographics of Sancratosia roughly mirror global trends. Christianity constitutes the largest religious group in the Principality, followed by Islam and Irreligion/Atheism.[1]
