Foreign relations of Sancratosia

The foreign relations of Sancratosia encompass its interactions with other governments and nations. Due to its lack of recognition by any United Nations member states, Sancratosia's diplomatic engagements are confined to micronational governments and organizations.
Sancratosia adheres to the declarative theory of statehood, recognizing any state with a defined territory, a permanent population, a government, and the capacity to engage in relations with other micronational states.[1]
Foreign policy
On 20 January 2023, the government of Sancratosia unveiled its foreign policy, establishing guidelines for its interactions with other states.[2]
The policy reaffirms Sancratosia's adherence to the declarative theory of statehood and outlines the conditions for de facto and de jure recognition by the Principality. It provides a framework for establishing formal relations with other states and intermicronational organizations. The requirements for signing a diplomatic treaty with Sancratosia include:
- Demonstrating a professional attitude.
- Being a nation that is generally material in nature.[a]
- Being peaceful and not involved in wars.
- Having an organized and stable structure.
- Maintaining an official website and email address.
- Existing for at least six months prior to contact.
- Establishing contact with Sancratosia at least three months before signing a treaty.
- Communicating in English or French.
Exceptions to these requirements include:
- Existence for more than five years.
- Attendance at a micronational summit with at least five other nations present.
- Recognition of Lingua Franca Nova as an official, national, or recognized language.
- Geographic proximity to Sancratosia.
- Membership in an intergovernmental organization with Sancratosia.
The policy also stipulates conditions for immediate refusal or revocation of a treaty, such as practices or legislation opposing Sancratosian values, or harboring individuals guilty of crimes in Sancratosia.
The policy also reaffirms the neutrality of the Principality in all conflicts.
Micronational relations
Sancratosia is selective in its bilateral relations, seeking to establish connections with states that share its values and goals. This selectivity has been reaffirmed since the adoption of its foreign policy in 2023. For administrative purposes, nations are classified into diplomatic divisions based on the United Nations geoscheme since 15 December 2022.[3] Despite its general policy of de facto and de jure recognition, Sancratosia prioritizes diplomatic relations with states aligned with its principles and objectives.

Macronational relations
Sancratosia maintains a list of countries and sovereign entities that are aligned or partially aligned with Sancratosian values.[13] This list is used to guide interactions with foreign businesses and individuals, including the determination of eligibility for citizenship applications. Entities from countries not on this list may face restrictions in their interactions with Sancratosia.
Additionally, this list informs the visa policy of the Principality, ensuring that only those from countries adhering to similar values can easily obtain visas. In the summer of 2022, the list was updated to include a metric on abortion rights, following the reversal of Roe v. Wade in the United States. This addition reflects Sancratosia's commitment to upholding reproductive rights as a core value in its macronational relations.
