New Rubix, officially the New Rubix Republic, is a self-declared state located on the Australian continent. New Rubix claims enclaves in Australia, Taiwan, Europe and North America as part of its de jure territory, however its only sovereign territory is the Auguston Capital Territory. Its de facto territory is land spread throughout the state of New South Wales. The capital city is Auguston. The Republic is defended by the Armed Forces of the New Rubix Republic.
The Unilateral Declaration of Independence was issued on 4 May 2015. As a federal state, each territorial administrative unit (TAU) has a degree of local autonomy, each headed by a governor with local executive and legislative powers. New Rubix runs on a one-party system, with the Nationalist Worker's Party existing as the sole political party in the country.
New Rubix is a full member of the Grand Unified Micronational since 14 May 2023, a provisional member of the Cupertino Alliance since 10 May 2023 and a full member of the Micronational Community of Australia since 12 December 2022.
Etymology
The name "Rubix" was chosen following discussion by the founding citizens. The predecessor entity to the 'Rubix Republic' cannot be considered strictly micronational therefore New Rubix as a micronation has been determined from 4 May 2015 onwards.

History
Establishment of the New Rubix Republic
The Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI) was issued by the founding citizens on 4 May 2015. An election was held which saw the selection of founding citizen Pio Lowe as first President. During the first year of the Republic's existence not much happened with participating limited to a local level. The first flag was adopted consisting of a white field bearing a blue cross under a red five pointed star and the letters 'NR' . Rudimentary passports were issued stamped with a red star and signed by a state official.
2016 Dabbax League Insurgency
In 2016, an insurgency was forced against the democratically elected government and an organisation titled "Dabbax League." It was swiftly put down due to a lack of support from the civilian population and its leader exiled and expunged from public records. As a result, the New Rubix Central Intelligence Bureau (NRCIB) was formed to prevent future security violations. Due to popular support for the ruling government, the Republic officially reformed into the New Rubix Military Order (NRMO) on 8 November 2018.
New Rubix Military Order Era
Under the Military Order, the NRCIB was reformed into the New Rubix Military Intelligence (NRMI) was formed. The first website dedicated to New Rubix was also coded from scratch under the regime with a dedicated section for the NRMI requiring log in with valid credentials to access. However, this era was relatively short lived with a reformation into the 'New Rubix Republic' on October 2019.
Pre-Covid development and Pandemic Era Boom
2019 saw a period of sustained development with the adoption of a new flag, passport design, creation of a new website replacing the older NRMO era website. The following year saw establishment to the New Rubix National Intelligence Directorate (NRNID) to replace previous state security apparatus. The year 2021 saw several significant events occur in the New Rubix Republic. On 4 April, the "April Constitution" was created enshrining the 2015 UDI. On 5 May, the tune "Waltzing Matilda" was adopted as the national anthem and the "March of the Armed Forces of the New Rubix Republic" selected as the official March of the Armed Forces. The "Auguston Post" was also established as the state news outlet of the Republic. On 12 May, elections for the National Assembly were held for the first time since the Republic's foundation with the Borda Count System chosen to tally votes. This saw the election of a leftist majority in Parliament.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, government services had shifted from local to digital operation with a discord server created to this end. This saw an introduction to the Reddit and MicroWiki sectors of micronationalism and an introduction to micronationalism as a standalone concept. On May 16 2021, the New Rubix Republic was officially admitted to the Cupertino Alliance (CA) with observer status, later being granted full member status until its later withdrawal from the CA due to a lack of personnel.
Pandemic Onwards and Further Growth
Since 2023, New Rubix has rejoined the Grand Unified Micronational as a full member and the Cupertino Alliance as a provisional member. On 31 March, Rucosmos was established by the National Space Aeronautics Act, March 2023 as the national space agency of the New Rubix Republic. In early June, a Third National Assembly was appointed with five initial members with the first session held on the 4th of June. It has since been expanded to seven seats.
Government and politics
Federal Government
New Rubix operates as a unitary military dictatorship with an executive Presidential head of state who is also Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. There is a bicameral legislature consisting of State Council and National Assembly with 7 seats. The 3rd National Assembly was appointed following 27 May 2023.
The federal government is divided into three branches:
- Legislature: the National Assembly of the New Rubix Republic, which proposes laws for the President to approve.
- Executive: the State Council, which vets and accepts laws proposed by the National Assembly, comprises the President, who de facto rules by decree, and other ministers of state who are appointed by the President.
- Judiciary: The State Court, whose judges are appointed by the President.

State Security
The New Rubix Federal Police is the national and principal federal law enforcement agency of the New Rubix Government with the role of investigating crime and protecting the national security of the New Rubix Republic. The main security agency is the New Rubix National Intelligence Directorate (NRNID) which was formed in 2020 as the successor to the NRMI with the role of internal security and border protection. The NRNID also handles citizenship applications as part of their duties.
Foreign relations
New Rubix's foreign policy is guided by a commitment to multilateralism and Antipodean micronationalism, as well as to build strong bilateral relations with micronations both in Australian and across the globe. Key concerns include intermicronational dialogue, multiculturalism/cultural exchange and military co-operation. It is open forming diplomatic relations with other micronations if they share common or non-conflicting values.

Military
The Armed Forces of the New Rubix Republic (AFNRR) is comprised of the New Rubixian Army (NRA) and the New Rubixian Air Force (NRAF). Due to New Rubix's landlocked status there is no naval branch. Personnel must complete the Armed Forces Aptitude Test as a prerequisite for enlisting in their branch of choice and eligible citizens may be conscripted during wartime. The President serves as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. The current Minister of Defense is William Cooper and the Chairman of the Armed Forces Central Committee is Brigadier General James Becker.

Economy
New Rubix's main industries are scientific and technical services and export of military equipment.
Currency
The Rubixian Thaler is legal tender in New Rubix and all of its territories. It is abbreviated as Th and comes in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, and $1000. It can be exchanged at a rate of 10 United States dollars to 1 Rubixian Thaler.
Culture
New Rubix derives much of its culture from its antipodean heritage despite having declared independence from the Commonwealth of Australia.
Awards
New Rubix has numerous orders, decorations and medals which it can bestow upon both citizens and foreign nationals. Both military, civil and political decorations can be worn on Rubixian civil, paramilitary and armed forces uniforms.
Honourary citizenship is also conveyed as part of a unique system of honourary military commissions as a substitute for the knighthoods traditionally granted by monarchs.

Geography and environment
New Rubix is a country landlocked as an enclave in the Commonwealth of Australia. It is located in the southern hemisphere, with a latitude and longitude approximately 33° South and 151° East. As a landlock nation it does not have direct access to the ocean which restricts its abilities to engage in maritime trade and naval activity.
Geology
The geology of Auguston, the capital, is made up of mostly sandstone and shale formed during the Triassic period (about 220 million years ago).
Climate
Auguston has 109.5 clear days and 127.2 cloudy days annually, though it has over 300 days of visible sunshine if partly cloudy days or sunny breaks are counted.
