The Government Council (Lingua Franca Nova: Consilio de Governa) serves as the principal governing body of the Principality of Sancratosia, responsible for the overall administration of the state.

Composition

The council comprises six members: the Minister of State and five Government Councillors. These officials are appointed by the Sovereign Princess and are accountable directly to her. The Minister of State presides over the council and holds a deciding vote. The roles of Minister of State and Government Councillor are mutually exclusive with membership in the Crown Council. Officially, Government Councillors are styled as "Government Councillor-Minister," though the shorter "Councillor-Minister" is commonly used.

Powers of the Government Council

The Government Council holds significant responsibilities as outlined in the Constitution. These include discussing bills proposed by the Sovereign Princess before their presentation to the National Council, reviewing Sovereign Ordinances to be approved by the Sovereign Princess, and discussing and proposing Ministerial Decrees initiated by the Minister of State. Additionally, the council addresses other policies and matters at the discretion of the Sovereign Princess.
