The orders, decorations, and medals of Sancratosia comprise a complex system by which Sancratosians are honoured by the sovereign princess for actions that benefit the Principality of Sancratosia. It is modelled on the systems of Canada and Monaco. The honours grant the use of post-nominal letters and of devices that can be used on personal coats of arms.

The Constitution regards the sovereign princess as the fons honorum of Sancratosia, as such she is the only person who may create new national honours. She also act as Grand Mistress or Sovereign of all Sancratosia's orders and decorations.

History

Display of select orders, decorations, and medals of Sancratosia, such as the Order of Sancratosia (women's officer ribbon), the Order of the Crown (member ribbon), the Municipal Order of Sancratosia, member ribbons of several orders (Excellency, Monoroca, Carnation and Martlet), the Medal of Diplomatic Relations (first produced medal) and the Friendship Star.

The majority of the orders, decorations and medals of Sancratosia were created early on around December 2021 and January 2022. This includes the most important awards such as the Order of Sancratosia and the Order of the Sovereign.

On 11 November 2022 (2022-11-11), the Sovereign Princess issued Sovereign Ordinance no 106 indicating that the State orders would henceforth be the highest awards in the Principality of Sancratosia. They were originally considered below the Dynastic orders.[1] This changed the Order of the Sovereign from being the highest award to the second highest and the Order of Sancratosia jumping from being the sixth highest to the highest order. This change was created to give the Order of Sancratosia more value, especially since it figures on the coat of arms of Sancratosia.

On 21 May 2023 (2023-05-21), an important reform was made to the Honours System of Sancratosia. This was done in prevision of the production of physical awards and to include the Public Force in the honours system. One of the major modifications was the repealing of the Medals of Civil Service, which were never awarded, and their replacement by the Medals of Meritorious Service. Some orders were also refined in their purpose and all orders saw their number of classes limited to three. The reform also elevated the Cornelis George Boeree Medal to be the highest decoration of Sancratosia.[2] This was also done in conjoncture with the creation of the Order of Excellency, the Medal of the Public Force, the Medal of Diplomatic Relations, the Friendship Star and the Municipal Order of Sancratosia.[3][4][5][6][7]
