The Konmalehth was an intermicronational organization which aimed to develop and foster cultural and economic relations between its member states, and reportedly due to dissatisfaction with the Grand Unified Micronational[1]. Initially formed to serve as a link between nations under the influence of Abelden and Pacem, it later included other nations such as Sabia and Verona and Atovia.

It was conceived on 25 August 2017 by Nicholas Kaos and Stephen Freayth and the Articles were formally signed on 6 October 2018,[2] thereby officially establishing the organization.

Discussions were largely informal and there was no specific day when its members agreed to meet. It aimed to deliberate on cultural issues and closer ties between its members through different kinds of activities and ideas.

The Quorum of the Konmalehth met over its Discord server where all quorums took place.

The organization formally dissolved following the Concordiagate scandal and the deFreaythification of the Abeldane community on 18 July 2020.[3] The last chair was Nicholas Kaos, the last vice-chair of the East was Stephen Freayth and the last vice-chair of the West was Simon Reeve.

Etymology

The name Konmalehth came from a combination of the Flaré and Abeldane language words for "commonwealth". The name KommonStates came from the attempt to create a name for a Konmalehth-governed community that shared their connection to each other in common.

The term "KommonStates" had been used[4], and tended to refer to the entire organization, while the name Konmalehth referred to its government. This was never formalised.[5]

History

2020 Decline

Since 2019, the organisation had been moving towards an organisation comparable to the Grand Unified Micronational, which Nicholas Kaos writing for the Quo Times described as a "bad move"[3]. Activity was also limited; a Reddit post from that year suggests that committee chairs had been insufficiently engaged, precipitating a motion by Thomas Bainbridge to remove them unless something changed.

On 12 May 2020 the Konmahlehth's wiki, the Konmalehth Articles, was demoted as the official wiki[6].

In 2020, following the fallout of the Concordiagate scandal on the Abeldane government and the wider community, opposition to the Konmalehth continuing to operate given Stephen Freayth's involvement as founder grew. Eventually, a vote of the organisation's membership agreed that the Konmahlehth should be disbanded, and it ceased operating on 18 July 2020 at 0000 UTC[3]. It had lasted almost three years. The vote for dissolution broke down as follows[3]:

For Against Abstention
 Serene Beaconite Republic  Abeldane Empire*
 Pacem  Kingdom of Jupiter*
Empire of Paravia Earth Federal Republic*
 Verus
 Atovia
 Hrafnarfjall
 Sabia and Verona
 Brennonia

Abstentions from nations marked with an "*" were due to inactivity on the part of the nations themselves[3].

After the vote, Chair Nicholas Kaos remarked that he was "sorry it ended up like this instead of it's original design". The fate of the Konmalehth Discord server is unclear, but it was likely also closed. The dissolution of the organisation interrupted the Kingdom of Ebenthal's application to join on 18 July 2020[1].
