Lord Sir J. R. Green, 1st Count of New Astonia COA BSc is an Adammic politician and noble who served as the eighth Prime Minister of Adammia, as Minister of Finance and as Leader of the Liberal-Moderate Party. He is currently the Leader of the Opposition.
Micronational career
Green, like many other Adammic politicians, was introduced to the Empire through the University of Birmingham Liberal Democrats society. He became an honourary citizen in March 2020. In September 2020, his university residence was claimed as the county of North Astonia in the province of Metchlia, making him a full citizen and a noble. He joined the Liberal-Moderates and stood unopposed in the 2020 local election, becoming Councilor of Metchlia. He also stood at the #6 position on the Lib-Mod list in the 2020 general election, but was not elected.
Shortly after his election, he drafted a number of bills related to political and constitutional reform, one of which, the Legislative Transparency (Register of Interests) Act, was put before the Ruling Council and passed in January 2021. His efforts got the attention of his party's Executive Committee, and he was appointed as the party's Chief Whip on the Ruling Council in February 2021. Following the resignation of Lady Amity Gilmour, Lord Green was unopposed in an internal party selection to fill the vacated seat, and therefore became an MP in April 2021.
At the 2021 Liberal-Moderate Party Conference, leader Lord Charles Michael decided not to seek another term, and Green was confirmed as his successor. Lord Michael became Green's deputy leader. Green led the Lib-Mods into the 2021 general election, which was uncontested, effectively giving Green an automatic majority without a democratic mandate. Green agreed to calls from other parties to form a cross-party unity government, with the aim of securing electoral reform followed by an early election. Green was nominated by the House and appointed a caretaker Prime Minister on 25 October 2021.
