The 21st executive election of the Abeldane Empire was held from 28 until 29 March 2020, in which both the offices of Vorsitzender and Stellvertreter were be contested for an election. It was the third election in Abeldane history where executive elections and legislative elections were be held separately from each other according to the Constitution of 2018. L'Sydunche did not conduct official polling for the 21st election.
Incumbent Vorsitzender and Liberty Front leader Edward Daniels deferred to run for a third term and decided to retire from the federal government after his second term.
Background
The time frame for the 21st executive election was a direct result of the reforms of the 2018 reforms. Emperor Newton in the last election called for the writs of the election on 8 March 2019 and also scheduled that all federal elections shall be held at the last consecutive Thursday to Sunday of the month, with all those elected to their offices starting their terms at the beginning of the next month immediately. The elected executives were appointed by Emperor Newton on April 1.
