Foreign relations of the Gymnasium State
The Gymnasium State distinguishes two types of international relations, informal, specified by documents of common micronational organisations and precedents established in the early phases of Gymnasian diplomacy, and formal, obtained via and maintained in accordance with a treaty. Officially, a treaty has to be passed by the Senate to be considered valid, and its signature by the President and Premier is rather just a symbolic act, often taking place long after the ratification or entirely virtually. However, since the 2023 Gymnasian coup d'état, regulation diplomatic relations came under the power of the National Preservation Government.
Currently, the Gymnasium State has formal relations with around 30 micronations all across the world, although they are mostly symbolic and rarely extend beyond mutual recognition. Gymnasium State is also a member of a number of intermicronational organisations and a signatory of the Wrythe Convention. There were attempts to open embassies both of and to the micronation, however with no success. Gymnasium State is considered one of the most influential micronations in the Czech sector, with many of its diplomatic documents serving as a model for other Czech micronations.
History
The Socialist State of Gymnasium did not make any attempts to establish diplomatic relations until the reformation, when Tomáš Falešník became the Minister of Foreign Affairs. In January 2018, he was approached by a representative of the MYCUS Republic, and on 13 January the first international treaty was signed by the Gymnasium State. Soon after it also became an observer and later a full member of the Union of Micronations of Central Europe, establishing the first informal relations. Gymnasium State also faced territorial disputes with Western Bohemia and Bohemia, both resulting in unwritten agreements of mutual recognition. Thorough 2018, Gymnasium State entered diplomatic relations with Lurk and Arkonia in May, Mekniy and a number of micronations from the 2018 Intake in June and Karnia-Ruthenia in July. Most of the current diplomatic precedents were created around this time, revolving mostly around the fate of diplomatic relations with a dissolved micronation and renewal of a treaty with a successor state. Since July, Gymnasium State for the most part stopped approaching other micronations first and only a small number of treaties after 2018 were proposed by the Gymnasium State. Near the end of the year Gymnasium State joined Konmalehth and the Grand Unified Micronational. In 2019, the Gymnasium State signed a number of international treaties with various micronation, most notably the Confederation of Mahuset, the treaty with which was later used as an inspiration of majority of the international treaties signed both by the Gymnasium State and several other micronations of the Czech sector. On 28 September the Gymnasium State founded the Summit of Czech and Slovakian Micronations, which would later be followed by Lovosice summit in 2020. With the COVID-19 pandemic and the inactivity caused by it, the number of new international treaties dropped, limited mostly to other Czech micronations. In April it briefly became a member of the Commonwealth of Sovereignties until withdrawing in June. Nonetheless, it would still participate in an meeting with the Emperor of Pavlov in July 2020 and representatives of Mekniy-Lurk and Majeria. Gymnasium State also considered attending Micro Euro Summit 2022, but could not do so due to conflicting dates with personal events of the intended representatives.

This recognition was withdrawn by the Gymnasium State on 17 September of the same year, just before signing the Wrythe Convention a week later, which was followed by Czechoslovakia withdrawing the recognition of the Gymnasium State as well. Czechoslovakia dissolved on 11 July 2019 and instead the Krlesian Federal Republic declared independence on 7 February 2020. The two nations signed the Treaty of Mutual Recognition and Establishment of Bilateral Diplomatic Relations on 22 February 2020, shortly after the anniversary of the Gymnasian-Bohemian Crisis. Krlesia dissolved on 23 October, and neither of the successor states, Free State of Chebzov and Free State of Lidoscan, expressed interest in continuing the treaty. Nevertheless the Gymnasium State and the reunited Krlesian Federative Republic reestablished their relations on 5 December 2021 through the unification of Krlesia and the Rednecks Republic, with which the Gymnasium State had signed the Treaty of Mutual Recognition and Establishment of Bilateral Diplomatic Relations on 2 July 2019 and later in person on the Sušice summit on 28 September by Matěj Čech and Jan Šťastný. Both the Gymnasium State and Krlesia are members of the Union of Micronations of Central Europe and the Grand Unified Micronational, interact often and a number of people have dual citizenship, including the Krlesian President Jan Šťastný.

Although no more treaties were signed between the two, the two nations cooperate on various levels thorugh the Union of Micronations of Central Europe and both the Gymnasium State and Mekniy unofficially extend provisions from treaties signed with other micronations to each other. Both states are members of the Union of Micronations of Central Europe and the Grand Unified Micronational, interact often, although predominatly in an unofficial manner, and a number of people have dual citizenship, including Tomáš Falešník, who currently serves as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mekniy-Lurk. On 28 August 2022 a treaty, believed to have been ratified by the Gymnasium State instead of the mutual recognition certificate, was signed in Sušice-Gympl by Falešník on behalf of the Gymnasium State and Karl Friedrich on behalf of Mekniy-Lurk, but it was discovered the day after that the treaty was never actually ratified by the senate and can not therefore be considered valid by the Gymnasium State.

Embassies
The Gymnasium State has a single embassy open in other states, and no nation has opened an embassy in the Gymnasium State. Currently, there are no proper legal documents specifying the embassies, which is the reason of the small amount of embassies.

International recognition
There is no official recognition of the Gymnasium State by any sovereign nation.
Czech Republic – The School Law of the Czech Republic states that the students can [...] establish within the school autonomous groups and vote and be elected in them [...]. The Senate was because of this recognized as such autonomous group, and therefore as a legitimate government of the Gymnasium State. There is however no recognition of the territorial claim, because of this the Gymnasium State also often refers to itself as a sovereign entity under international law, since as such doesn't need to have a territory and permanent population. The claim of the Czech recognition was disputed as since September 2019 as the micronation would no longer be within the school, the Senate however still uses the paragraph as a document of Czech recognition.
Sweden – In the early 2018, a plan was made to contact a Swedish political party running in the Swedish communal election and ask them for their recognition of the Gymnasium State, as the leader of the party was a close relative of one of the Gymnazists. The plan never took place and neither the party nor the Swedish government recognised the Gymnasium State's sovereignty from .
Pakistan – The Gymnasium State started the process of establishing an embassy in Pakistan in autumn of 2019, but there was no reply from the Pakistani government. Due to this, the government decided to close the embassy on 15 August 2020 and did not attempt to establish diplomatic relations with Pakistan again
Afghanistan – After the fall of Kabul in 2021, the Gymnasium State briefly considered approaching the government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with a letter proposing mutual recognition, but ultimately did not go through with the proposal as it was abandoned even before being submitted to the Senate. The Gymnasium State refused the recognition of the Taliban government already in 2017 and continues to officially recognise the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as the legitimate government.
