Civic Republican Party (Czech: Občanská republikánská strana, abbreviated ORS) is a right-wing party in the Gymnasium State. It is the oldest and largest party in the micronation, existing since December 2018. It was created as a general conservative party, its leadership has been drifting towards some libertarian beliefs. It is the largest and is often considered the most influential political party in the micronation and since December of 2022 it has a plurality in the Senate.
History
Civic Republican Party was created by Radek Vastl and Adam Pivetz on 16 December 2018, shortly after the Senate passed the proposal allowing political parties to be formed, of which both founders were major proponents. The party participated in the January 2019 election, but it was not until the following election, after the party grew in numbers through January, that a party member Daniel Švíka was elected president. The party had a group chat on Messenger, which led to better organisation of itself and coordination of voting both in presidential elections and for or against Senate proposals. CRP tabled a number of proposals, with the major ones being the army reform in August 2020 and a series of controversial proposals to classify islam as a radical and dangerous ideology rather than a religion at the turn of 2021, following the terrorist attack in Paris. The party won the December 2021 election with both the president and premier elected members of the party, but plummeted later in July 2022 when no CRP member received any votes. In 2022 the Civic Republican Party achieved plurality in the Senate after Damian Málek transfered from the Social Liberals and inactive Senators had their citizenship terminated.
