The Commemorative Medal of the 21st Birthday of Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya (Hindi: राष्ट्राध्यक्ष वरुण श्रीराय की 21वीं जयंती पर स्मारक पदक) is a commemorative medal constituted and issued by the Ministry of Culture upon approval from the union council of ministers on 11 January 2023 in conjunction with the 21st Birthday of H.Ill.R.M. Varuna Sriraya. The medal was conferred on a list of distinguished citizens and noted foreigners in recognition of their personal services and friendship with the Rashtradhyaksh and was issued upon consultation with the Rashtradhyaksh.
The medal was designed by privy councilor and herald Chris Ramsay in consultation with Minister of Culture Rafe Burfield.
Precedence
The Commemorative Medal of the 21st Birthday of Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya precedes below all national orders, state orders, and decorations. It ranks immediately below the Commemorative Medal of the Crystal Jubilee of the Foundation of Vishwamitra, which was constituted in April 2022 to celebrate the crystal jubilee of the foundation of the nation in 2007.
Insignia
The medallion of the order includes a bust of Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya in ceremonial uniform wearing the state decorations, medals and other insignias. The medallion also depicts a few selective honours worn by the Rashtradhyaksh including the Collar and badge of the Supreme Order of the Hibiscus, badges of the Order of the Royal House of Sriraya and the Royal Family Order of Purvanchal, and other medals on chest and the text "THE 21ST BIRTHDAY OF H.Ill.R.M. VARUNA SRIRAYA • 11 JAN 2023" in a circular fashion on the obverse; while the commemorative logo of the event has been included in the reverse.
The ribbon bar of the medal is sky blue with a darker shade of blue at its edges. The colour blue has been used to represent the colour of the day of birth of the Rashtradhyaksh as per Hindu mythological beliefs.
