The Installation Medal of Rashtradhyaksh III (Hindi: राष्ट्राध्यक्ष तृतीय के स्थापना पदक) is a commemorative medal constituted and issued by the government of Vishwamitra at His Illustrious and Royal Majesty's approval to commemorate the occasion of the installation of Varuna Sriraya, the Maharaja of Purvanchal as the Rashtradhyaksh for the second time on 1 August 2024. The medal is due to be conferred on members of the royal families, public officials, former officials, foreign heads of state and royalty and other representatives for their contributions to Vishwamitra.
History
The Conference of Rulers meet under the chairmanship of Bishnu Chetry, Rajpramukh of Uttaranchal on 29 June 2024 and approved for amendments to the constitution on matters pertaining to royal succession and election. The conference thereupon elected incumbent Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya for a fresh term to begin on 1 August 2020 after he had announced his abdication on 14 January 2024. Upon the formalities by the conference, the Central Chancellery of the Federal Honours and the privy council was tasked to suggest the creation of memorabilia to commemorate the occasion. Deputy Prime Minister and royal counsellor Arthur Lacey-Scott-FitzLacia advised to create a new federal honour or a decoration to be conferred at the pleasure of the sovereign, while privy council president John Caravaggio III and privy counsellor Shiro Mephistopheles suggested creation of a commemorative medal for the occasion. The Rashtradhyaksh, later consulting all of them and prime minister Klarissa Sriraya approved for the creation of the Order of Rajaswi Vishwamitra as the second federal honour ranking below the Order of Sri Maha Vishwamitra and at the same time, the creation of the commemorative medal. All the creations were gazetted on 26 July 2024.
Design
The insignia of the commemorative medal was designed by Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya based on the earlier design of the Commemorative Medal of the 21st Birthday of Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya, as designed by former privy counsellor Chris Ramsay. Further modifying the bust of the Rashtradhyaksh, the new medal depicted the sovereign wearing the collar and star of the Order of Sri Maha Vishwamitra, along with the stars of the Order of the Royal House of Sriraya and the Royal Family Order of Purvanchal. Surrounding the bust, is the text "VARUNA SRIRAYA" and the installation date "०१-०८-२०२४" in Devanagari script. The ribbon has been influenced by the Thai Order of the Rajamitrabhorn and consists of the royal colour, yellow, with white and blue trims at both ends.
Recipients
The list of recipients of the medal was unveiled on 1 August 2024 along with the Installation honours.
