Ribbon of the Order

The Royal Ebenthali Order (Portuguese: Real Ordem Ebentálica) is a national order of the Kingdom of Ebenthal automatically conferred on heads of state with whom Ebenthal establishes official bilateral relations. The order was established in 2020 by King Arthur II, who serves as its Grand Master, and it was incorporated to the national pantheon of orders and awards. Upon its creation, the Royal Ebenthali Order suplanted the Order of Lady Mary as Ebenthal's lowest chivalric order, nevertheless, it remains one of Ebenthal's most prestigious orders due to its membership restricted to heads of state..

Origin

The ideia of creating an order with the sole purpose to award friendly heads of state firstly came to King Arthur II's mind through the Order of Saturn of the Archduchy of Mimas. The Ebenthali monarch then also looked up to European analogue examples and spoke largely with the Rashtradhyaksh of Vishwamitra, Varuna Sriraya, over the matter. The creation of such order was officially proposed by the sovereign to the College of Peers of the Realm in late October 2020, but as more pressing matters were being discussed, the matter of chivalric orders was temporarily ignored. On 4 December 2020 the Peers finally agreed on the creation of the Royal Ebenthali Order as a national order, and thus the country's only one whose responsibility lies with the state, and not with the Royal Family.

Grades and badges

The Royal Ebenthali Order has one sole grade, that of Knight, and its female equivalent, Dame. Both use the same post-nominal letters of ROE standing for the Portuguese Real Ordem Ebentálica (English: Royal Ebenthali Order). Knights and Dames of the order wears the order's badge on a sash on the right shoulder, and the ensign of the order in gold on the left chest.

Precedence and privileges

Members of this order are assigned positions in the order of precedence, ranking above all others members of equal rankings of whichever orders except for the higher Order of the Blue Blood, Order of Dagon, Order of the Swiss Prince and Order of the Silver Cat. Consorts, children and children-in-law also feature on the order of precedence; relatives of members, however, are not assigned any special precedence. Generally, individuals can derive precedence from their parents or consorts as long as the recipient lives.

All members ot the order are entitled to the prefixes of "Sir" and "Ma'am". When an individual is entitled to use multiple post-nominal letters, the ones of the order (ROE) takes precedence according to the ranking of orders. All recipients may encircle their arms with the circlet of the order.
