Elected Prime Minister

The November 2013 Austenasian elections took place on 18 November 2013. A general election took place for the office of Prime Minister of Austenasia, alongside a simultaneous local election for seats in the House of Representatives. Results were announced on the following day, with Countess Eritoshi of Memphis being elected Prime Minister and all incumbent Representatives retaining their seats as such.

General election

On 30 September 2013, Emperor Jonathan I called a general election to take pace on 18 November later that year. Before his ascension to the Throne in January 2013, the then Crown Prince Jonathan had served as Prime Minister of Austenasia since the nation's founding. However, he automatically lost the office of Prime Minister upon ascending the Throne due to it being constitutionally forbidden for the same individual to simultaneously hold the two offices. Lord Marshal William as Deputy Prime Minister therefore became Acting Prime Minster, and would serve as such until the next general election.

Three weeks later, the Emperor announced his approval of the three Representatives who had approached him asking to run for Prime Minister: Countess Eritoshi of Thanasia, Lord John Gordon of Palasia, and Lord Marshal William (of Zephyria).

The election took place on 18 November, with a 60% turnout. Despite many predicting Lord Marshal William to get a respectable proportion of votes if not even to win, he on the day instead endorsed Countess Eritoshi, not even voting for himself and surprisingly ending up with zero votes. Countess Eritoshi received six votes whereas Lord John Gordon received three, with the former being elected Prime Minister and the latter becoming her Deputy Prime Minister.

Local election

A local election was also called for 18 November 2013. When it became clear that nobody would be running against the incumbents, the Emperor passed an Imperial Edict ruling that should more voters in a town abstain than vote for the sole candidate, the election in that town would be regarded as inconclusive and the respective Town Council would either hold the responsibilities of the Representative or appoint an Acting Representative itself. In the event, however, this was unnecessary, as no abstaining votes were cast; all subjects who voted did so for the incumbent.

Countess Eritoshi and Lord John Gordon were elected as the Representatives of Thanasia and of Palasia respectively, having served only as Acting Representatives since the creation of their Towns in May and July.
