February 2017 Wrythe and New Richmond local elections
The February 2017 Wrythe and New Richmond local elections took place on 9 February 2017, and were the first local elections in the history of the Empire of Austenasia to elect Mayors. The elections were to elect a Representative and a Mayor for the newly designated Cities of Wrythe and New Richmond. Representatives speak and vote on behalf of their city or town in the House of Representatives, whereas Mayors have functions in local government for cities.
Both cities saw a single candidate stand for election to both positions, and all four candidates were elected with 100% of the vote. Voters had the option to abstain, which renders an election inconclusive should it gain more votes than the candidate.
The incumbent Representatives of Wrythe and of New Richmond - Emperor Jonathan I and Lady Admiral Vera Hewitt respectively - were re-elected as Representatives. Emperor Father Terry was elected Mayor of Wrythe and Victoria Hathaway, Countess of Sidney was elected Mayor of New Richmond.
