The Deputy Prime Minister of Austenasia is the deputy to the Prime Minister (PM), head of government of the Empire of Austenasia. After each general election, the newly-elected Prime Minister chooses a Representative to serve as their deputy with the approval of the Monarch. The Deputy Prime Minister servers as Acting Prime Minister should the PM resign, die, or otherwise be incapacitated before the next election.

Prior to January 2018, the position of Deputy Prime Minister was held by the Representative to gain the second-highest number of votes in a general election, and as such served almost as an informal "Leader of the Opposition" in some respects, albeit with the intention for the two most popular candidates to work together post-election. Since 2016, the Deputy Prime Minister has often also been Speaker of the House of Representatives.

On 20 January 2018, the Second Amendment to the Constitution came into force, establishing that from henceforth the Deputy Prime Minister would be appointed by a newly-elected Prime Minister rather than being the runner-up in the election.
