The Austenasian Times is an Austenasian periodic newspaper published on Wordpress. It is the only major source of news which focuses on Austenasia.

History

The Austenasian Times was founded on 11 November 2012 by HIH Crown Prince Jonathan, the then Prime Minister and now Emperor of Austenasia.[1] Prior to this, the only source of news which focused on Austenasia was the home page of the government website, which published short paragraphs on major events. Upon the foundation of the newspaper, this was replaced with a set of links to various websites where one can find information on the Empire, one of which is the Austenasian Times website.

The Austenasian Times is privately owned by its creator the Emperor, who writes and publishes its articles in his capacity as its editor. The first article published was about a countdown to MicroWiki being deleted having been placed on the wiki's home page after system operator Petya d'Égtavie got drunk. The then Crown Prince stated that he had been waiting for a "dramatic yet funny" news story to occur with which to launch the newspaper.

The Times won the prize for "Excellence in Journalism" at the 2017 Micronational Awards.

On 5 August 2024, Lord Mick Griffin of Glainamar was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Austenasian Times.

On 8 November 2024, the Austenasian Times was officially nationalised by the Government of Austenasia. A few days later, on 11 November 2024, the publication moved to its own dedicated domain name austenasia.news.
