The Micronational Olympic Federation is an intermicronational organisation dedicated to creating, hosting, and scheduling micronational sporting and Esporting events, and the Micronational Olympics. The MOF currently hosts the Micronational Olympic Games every two years with the 2020 Micronatonal Olympic eGames annually.
Posaf founded the Micronational Olympic Federation on 7 January 2018 after noticing the inactivity of the Micronational Olympic Committee founded by Molossia back in 2000. The goal of the MOF (since the founding) was to have peace, and unity throughout the micronational community with competitive games to celebrate with, along with general celebration for the Micronational community through games.
As of 10 June 2020, the MOF has 31 active members.
History
Founding to Millania 2019
After a couple of days of Posaf declared independence, the government of the nation founded the Micronational Olympic Federation after seeing the Micronational Olympic Committee was inactive. The Posafian Government put Nicholas Randouler the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge. During foundation, the basic goal was to unite all micronations to celebrate under one large event.[1] The organization largely took place on the Discord sector of micronations (before the Discord shift) and gained member states such as, Andany, Bernada, and Millania. Early on the organization was met with criticism from Pablo Macias after he claimed there were already too many micronational sports organizations active. Due to this, he founded the now-defunct Micronational Olympic Group.
With the announcement of the Micronational Olympic Group and the 2018 Micronational Games, a couple of days later the MOF announced plans for the earlier 2018 MOF Games that would take place online. The games were not hosted by any nation but quickly organized by Nicholas Randouler and took place from February 15 to the 26. Events during the games were a six-by-six checkers, Tic-tac-toe, and an Agar.io party. With the events, the games included national honours such as Best Coat of Arms, Best Flag, and Best Motto. The event was proven to be a success after gaining intermicronational recognition[2] and an increase in members putting it over the MOG.
Later on, the MOF grew to more notable members such as Ladonia, and the Gymnasium State. After it was found most of Andany was fabricated, with the MOG, the 2020 Micronational Olympic Games rights were transferred to the MOF to be hosted by Iustus in Kingston, Canada. Months passed the MOF grew with more members and later completed its first year of establishment going into Millania 2019. Millania 2019 started off good, with a medal sweep for the host nation and an elaborate opening ceremony. When the games neared the end the host nation was having internet troubles and the games went on for longer than expected with a disputed national pride category winnings. Similarly, the rules for some games did not go well causing Aariania to leave the MOF over them.[3] It was seen that Millania 2019 dented the progress of the MOF.
When Millania 2019 came to an end, it was seen the MOF reputation was severely hurt due to the lack of planning and tests done to ensure the efficiency of the games. Due to this, the Commissioner Council decided it was needed to push for more sanctioned events and tournaments. The first of these was the 2019 MOF Checkers Tournament. These games were viewed as a big success[4] to many members and gained an influx of new members. The tournament did start a new trend for checkers in the MOF, as the MOF is now making the contest annual.
Activity overall went up for some time in the MOF server, although it did die down back to normal. The third annual 2020 Micronational eSport Games started on 14 February, hosted by the Gymnasium State. The 2020 Micronational Olympic Games were set to take place in the summer of 2020 hosted by Iustus. However, the games were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019 MOF Intergames Aenderia Cancellation
For more information, see 2019 MOF Intergames Aenderia
Aenderia, a micronation formed in 2018, was the winning bidding candidate to host the 2019 MOF Intergames, but the games were later canceled due to political instability in Aenderia leading to the secession of the Kingdom of Auvenum.
Calvin White, the founder of Aenderia and the person responsible for seceding Auvenum from Aenderia, was able to cancel the games in an attempt to hurt the current Aenderian government, who had deposed White due to election fraud claims, yet was later acquitted.
Present
The MOF experienced a large set back with the death of founder and president Nicholas Randouler. There was also another set back with the delay several times of the 2021 MOF Games and the subsequent removal of Nicolás Millán from the presidency due to his "ghosting" the organization in the midst of organizing the games. He was briefly replaced by Austin Jaax who subsequently resigned after a few days and was replaced by his hand picked successor Tomáš Falešník.
The MOF experienced the most mainstream Micronational exposure up to this point when Executive Vice President Matthew Salzer of Ladonia hosted the first annual Nemean Games (athletic event) at MicroCon 2022.
Structure
President
The President of the Micronational Olympic Federations' duty is to go over all of the operations within the organization and to finalize any proposals or bylaws within the Commissioner Council. Normally the President is the lead figure in the organization and appoints members of the Commissioner Council and Vice-Presidents to be confirmed by the member states. One of the Presidents duties is to oversee all operations conducted for the games. The President would normally help host nations plan events and organize the games, and for the eGames, the president would help advertise and plan the games. The current President of the MOF is Nicolas Millan from Millania since 3 June 2020.
