The 9th Abeldane general election occurred from the 22nd until the 31st of December 2016 to elect the Vorsitzender and Stellvertreter. The elections were called by Emperor Stephen on 21 December, citing inactivity as a reason for the election. Emiel Hardy and Isaac Reuel, both of the Conservative Party, were elected as Vorsitzender and Stellvertreter, respectively. The Liberal Party's Mike Lewis, who had been Vorsitzender until the election, became the new Leader of the Opposition in the Reichsversammlung.

This was the first general election after Abelden became a federal empire and the second elections of the 3rd Reichsversammlung.
