The Imperial Standard of the Empire of Austenasia.

The Imperial Standard of the Empire of Austenasia is the heraldic banner used by Jonathan I in his capacity as Emperor of Austenasia. Variations on the standard banner are used by other members of the Imperial Family as their own personal arms.

The Monarch

The Imperial Standard - adopted on 15 July 2011 by Act 154 (Imperial Standards) - is divided into four quadrants. The first and fourth quadrants represent the Empire and are comprised of the Austenasian Star, the Empire's national flag; the second quadrant represents the British town of Carshalton, from which the Empire declared independence in 2008, and is comprised of the crest of said town; the third quadrant is comprised of a Chi-Ro, which represents both the Christian identity of the Empire and the claim that the Monarch is successor to the Roman Emperors (the Chi-Ro being part of late classical Roman imperial insignia).

The Imperial Standard is flown when the Monarch is in residence in the Imperial Residence, and on a vehicle being used by the Monarch on official journeys. The Imperial Standard may only be flown at half-mast above a building or on board a boat in which the unburied body of a deceased Monarch is lying.

As stated by Act 154, Law 5:

Personal standards which are variants of the Imperial Standard may be used as personal heraldic banners by the Heir to the Throne, siblings of the Monarch, all descendants of the Monarch with the style of Imperial Highness, the spouse, parents, and grandparents of the Monarch, and any abdicated Monarchs.
