The Most Esteemed Order of Sri Maha Vishwamitra (Hindi: परम प्रतिष्ठित श्री महा विश्वामित्र मानपदावी‎) is the highest and sole order of chivalry of Vishwamitra which was created initially on 17 January 2024 as the "Order of the Royal Family of Vishwamitra" and later renamed and expanded on 26 April 2024. The order became the sole chivalric order of Vishwamitra following the discontinuation of all federal and state orders, excluding the dynastic ones, by a royal decree of the Rashtradhyaksh issued on 26 April 2024.

History

The Order of Sri Maha Vishwamitra was constituted as the "Order of the Royal Family of Vishwamitra" on 17 January 2024 and was reserved solely for the Rashtradhyaksh. The order was re-organised on 26 April 2024 after the discontinuation of all other existing honours, to become the sole chivalric order.

Classes

The Order of Sri Maha Vishwamitra is conferred in five ordinary classes:

  • Grand Cordon (GCSV)
  • Grand Commander (GSV)
  • Commander (ComSV)
  • Companion (CSV)
  • Member (MSV)

Apart from the five ordinary classes, an extraordinary Collar is conferred in exceptional cases upon the monarchs of the states, senior royalties, statesmen and foreign heads of states.
