Politics of Indokistan took place in framework of federal presidential republic with president serve as both head of state and head of government. Indokistan profess direct democracy that was hosted under one supreme body named National Forum of Indokistan.

Political principles

Indokistan was united on a very diverse political ideologies. Each states had a different political basis, primarily set by its governor. Each of these political ideologies influenced Indokistan on national affairs.

Aziziyah, as an Islamic sultanate runs its government under Islamic principles. Central Indokistan have market socialism as its basis, while Suwarnakarta is social democratic. Cussex stands consistently on its liberal ideology.

Constitution

Indokistani sees the national constitution as a form of agreement between all states of Indokistan, because of all Indokistani states and territories were joined on its drafting process. It was created in October 2013 until its ratification and adpotion in January 2014.

Before the new constitution, Indokistan had a constitution amended in January 2011, that was suspended after referendum in May 2013 and calls from citizens to create a new constitution. It was realised in October 2013 when a new constitution began its composition.

First constitution of Indokistan come into force since 21 November 2011 after the draft of text were approved by the parliament at that time. The first constitution of Indokistan acts as the basic law for the nation, it also manages the basic forms of politics, government and social rights. It was later amended in January 2012 and suspended in May 2013.

Executive branch

Executive power in Indokistan was hold by President of Indokistan that act both as head of state and head of government. President was elected for 18 months without consecutive term. President signed diplomatic treaty, declaring war on behalf of national forum, grant amnesty and orders, accepting foreign guests and diplomats. Because of Indokistani direct democracy, the president also took office as the head of the National Forum.

President has no obligation to establish a council of ministers after new laws impemented to dissolve that position, as national forum will entirely replace the cabinet position.

Farhan Abbas was the last president of Indokistan, replacing Rayhan Haikal after his victory on December 2014 election.

Legislative

Since Indokistan adopted direct democracy as one of its principles, all citizens are automatically accepted as the member of national legislature. It was hosted by the National Forum of Indokistan and was headed by the president.

Political parties

Indokistan adopted nonpartisan democracy which makes Indokistan will never allow its citizens to establishing political parties. Since all political activities in Indokistan were not based on political parties, but based on each individuals. Small number of citizens and its inneffectivity makes the government decides to ban political parties, also with historical references that political parties in Indokistan never had significant influence on its political life.

Despite of that policy, Indokistan once had political parties that divided by eras. On its independence and early era, Indokistan was started by 5 political parties and then shrinked to 3 parties, the National, Communist and Islamic party. Dominating communist party then overthrow the democratic government to form the so-called socialist Indokistan which made Indokistan experienced its first single-party era.

After January Revolution in 2011, multi-party system was readopted and the last 3 parties that exist before the communist regime, reestablished with new name. Since June 2011 until June 2012, Indokistan had used a single-party system, due to the problem in Islamic Party of Indokistan and a suggestion from Farhan Abbas to unite all parties in Indokistan. During the second single-party era, Indokistani parties was united under United Peoples Party.

The last time Indokistan had politcal parties were started on June 2012, when Bobodolands government decision to establish Islamic Development Party was accepted by government, makes Indokistan has 2 political parties, together with United Peoples Party before it was officially disbanded during Indokistani national reform in 2013.

Elections

Presidential elections

Presidential election was the only election accomodated by the government to appoint new president democratically through a fair manner. The election was held in every 18 months, when the president term is over. Election was regulated through federal law.

Historically, Indokistan had experienced two direct presidential election, which was in 2011 resulting on Dicky L. K. victory, and the latest one was in 2013 that successfuly appointed Tian Abdurrahman. The last election was the first indirect, which was held in December 2014 and resulting in the victory of Farhan Abbas.

Parliamentary elections

Since the new laws implemented in the government about political party, Indokistan will never have a new political party since Indokistan profess non-partisan democracy. Parliament members will not appointed through an election because of direct democracy in Indokistan. Before that period, the parliamentary elections were already held for 2 times, when Indokistan still have 5 parties in December 2010 before the communist rule, and the last one was on March 2011 after the previous parliament being dissolved, under direct order of Farhan Abbas.

Referendums

Beside presidential election, a referendum also a legal process that the government ready to host. Referendum is a process of asking the population about implementation of new policies, particularly in a very important matter. Decision to execute a referendum is decided on the the national forum.

Indokistan already experienced two referendums. The first one was concerning on the new constitutional amendment that was took place in 2012, and the last was in 2013 to turn Indokistan a federation.
