History |
The Diplomacy Division (Sabian: tairaginiritrañ) is one of the divisions (ministries) that make up the government of Sabia and Verona. It is responsible for protecting and promoting Sabia and Verona's interests worldwide. It was created on 3 March 2016, as a result of the signing of the Alios Agreement, which granted Sabia and Verona full control of its foreign policy from the Federal Union of Juclandian Lands. The first secretary was Janina Amosiry, who served in Shounn Virny's first government. It is considered one of the government's most prestigious positions, and has been typically been occupied by the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Division is charged with leading the foreign policy and foreign relations of Sabia and Verona. It also works with the Defense Division's National Intelligence Service (DST).
Since 2019, the Secretary of Diplomacy has been Apollo Cerwyn, who is also Prime Minister as leader of the 12th government. Cerwyn had previously served as Diplomacy Secretary from 2016 to 2017, under Shounn Virny (who then went on to be Diplomacy Secretary from 2018 to 2019, preceding Cerwyn's second term). Cerwyn broke tradition by assuming this portfolio whilst being Prime Minister; all four previous Diplomacy Secretaries had been Deputy PMs, including himself.
