Caenia (Sabian: ħaiana) is one of the four prefectures of the Sabian Region in Sabia and Verona, and one of the largest cities in the Kingdom by population. Caenia is one of the oldest settlements of the Kingdom, and was, alongside Salisse, one of the first cities with plush toy citizens in Sabia and Verona. From 2014 to 2017, the city was part of the Elinore Prefecture, and acted as its administrative center until the territorial reform of 2017.

Caenia has been of relevance for being the most "conservative-leaning" area of the Kingdom, historically being a stronghold of the Liberal Party (formerly known as Unity). Caenia is the only prefecture in the Kingdom to be entirely landlocked by other prefectures, thus having no territorial borders with either Argentina or Venezuela.

History

The city was founded as one of the first Sabioveronese subdivisions next to Saint Enric in October 2012. The Legislative Courts had considered making Caenia the capital of Sabia and Verona before Saint Enric. Due to Saint Enric's growing support for left-wing parties of Juclandia, Caenia became safe place for affiliated and unaffiliated right-wing and apolitical Sabians. When the Socialist Party of Sabia was founded by Napoléon Bleuberrie, Caenia was in perfect position to contrast Saint Enric and a group of Caenian politicians, leaded by Graham Müntz founded the Unity Party that would compete against Saint Enric and the Socialists in the December 2012 elections. In the elections, Bleuberrie lost against Osez Kóvérsz, that had so far worked as interim Mayor of Caenia.

After the successful Unity campaign in Caenia, the Municipality's mayor (and then Lieutenant Secretary according to the Municipal Governments Act of April 2013) passed to be Ann Stefanović. Since October 2013, the Municipality's Lt. Secretary is Wilhelm Starlynn of the Initiative for Democracy. In 2014, the third territorial reform of Sabia and Verona came into effect, and the University of Elinore passed to be on Caenian territory.

In August 2014 the Municipality lost its status and it became part of the newly founded Elinore Prefecture, as the Prefecture's capital city.

Administration

As a prefecture, Caenia is directly administered by a democratically elected prefect, or mayor. The one-person prefectural government is subordinated to the regional government, in the case of Caenia, the government of Sabia. The Prefect of Caenia is Igor Schubert-Moss, of the Liberal Party.
