The Most Honourable Order of the Crown of Purvanchal (Hindi: पूर्वांचल मुकुट मानपदवी), formally known as the Order of the Territorial Crown of Purvanchal is third highest order of chivalry of the state of Purvanchal ranking below the Royal Family Order of Purvanchal. It is conferred for distinguished services towards the state and its people. The order was constituted on 7 September 2020 by Maharaja Varuna Sriraya, alongside the Royal Family Order of Purvanchal. The order is conferred upon both state and foreign dignitaries for their outstanding and remarkable services.
The order was renamed as the "Order of the Crown of Purvanchal" on 12 February 2022.
History
The Order of the Crown of Purvanchal was formally established as the "Order of the Territorial Crown of Purvanchal" by Maharaja Varuna Sriraya on 7 September 2020. With the creation of the other state honours, the Order of the Crown became the junior-most order of the state. On 12 February 2022, the order was renamed to its current name.
On 1 December 2022, the Maharaja issued a royal decree through which it became the third highest order of the state ranking immediately after the Royal Family Order of Purvanchal.
Grades, styles, and insignia
Grades
The Maharaja of Purvanchal at the apex of the Order of the Crown of Purvanchal is its Sovereign, followed by the Grand Master, a position held by the heir to the throne, currently being held by Klarissa, Crown Princess of Purvanchal. At the time of its establishment, the order was established in a single grade and was later expanded to its current composition of a total of four grades.
Currently, the order is conferred in four distinguished classes:
- Knight Grand Commander – GCCP, limited to 40 living recipients.
- Knight Commander – KCCP
- Companion – CCP
- Member – MCP
Until the order's re-organization on 1 February 2024, the ranks were Grand Commander, Grand Officer (known as Knight or Dame Commander until 25 July 2021), Commander, and Member.
Insignia
- The star of the order has a golden rosette. The rosette has eight petals enamelled with white (inner) and gold (outer). Petals are separated by gold rays. In the center is a white-encircled blue medallion, which depicts a gold state crown representing the crown of the Maharaja of Purvanchal.
- The badge of the order has the star on its obverse with different sizes for the grades:
