MicroWiki:List of users by edit count
Share percentage of contributions of the top 5 editors, top 6–100 editors, and the rest of MicroWiki[a] (from 5 October 2022)
An edit count is a number stored for each user counting the total times they have saved a change or changes to a page on MicroWiki. MicroWiki, which runs on the software MediaWiki, counts edits in all namespaces (articles, talk pages, user pages, user talk pages, templates, files, etc.), however some types of edits that may be included in certain page count tools—such as page moves—are not captured by other counting methods.[b] The simplest method to view a user's edit count is via Special:Preferences, which includes deleted edits.[c] The MediaWiki extension Special:Editcount gives a more detailed view of the namespaces edited by a user, however it excludes deleted edits.[d] Nevertheless, typing {{Special:Editcount/User}}
will display a user's live edit count on any page and include deleted edits. The server counts each edit—regardless of whether it reflects a single change to a page or many—as 1; this is what the server does when generating the efficient counts shown in Special:Preferences and in Special:Editcount, the latter of which gathers its data directly from the server.
Although MicroWiki was founded on 27 May 2005, all prior edit counts and page histories were erased after MicroWiki moved its domain from microwiki.org.uk
to micronation.org
on 7 November 2013. Additionally, MicroWiki was originally hosted on Wikia (now Fandom) from its foundation until the community moved on 14 November 2010. These edits counts, alongside those of microwiki.org.uk
, are not counted on MicroWiki; as such, for user accounts registered on MicroWiki prior to 7 November 2013 there is a significant disparity between the edit counts counted on the aforementioned methods and their actual edit counts on MicroWiki. In order to attempt limit this discrepancy, the below list includes the edit counts of users on the former Wikia website—the edit counts of whom are still publicly viewable on MicroNations Fandom[e]—and an estimated edit count on microwiki.org.uk
, the number of which has been estimated based on various calculation methods, such as known edit counts (typically via snapshots on the Wayback Machine; testimonials are not considered reliable) and guesses based on calculations from the known average daily edit counts of users with registered accounts on both Wikia and the current MicroWiki. Instances of these calculations are indicated in the list of users by edit count below.
The first edit on MicroWiki was made on 27 May 2005 at 15:14 (UTC) by Fabian Schneider—the founder of MicroWiki—under the username Monsterfurby. Schneider would hold the highest edit count on the wiki until 14 October 2005 when Perry, chancellor of the United Republic of Arlberg, claimed the title upon reaching 9 edits. On 1 May 2006, Jeffrey II, Prince of Satirocity, overtook Perry upon reaching 101 edits.[f] On 23 January 2009, Joe Foxon—editing under the account Joefoxon—overtook Jeffrey II with 913 edits. This was followed on 27 April 2009 by Alexander Reinhardt (Cajak) with 1,221 edits. MicroWiki moved to an independent domain on 14 November 2010—first to microwiki.co.cc
and later to microwiki.org.uk
. The latter domain continued to hold the same edit count as the former domain. It is probable that Pierre d'Égtavie (Demontux) was the first user to make an edit to the new wiki. Due to software restrictions, all pages on the old Wikia website had to be manually imported. Aldrich Lucas, an administrator at the time, took the liberty of doing this strenuous task, leading to his edit count immediately skyrocketing. While the exact number of articles MicroWiki had at the time is unknown, Lucas had reached "almost 16,000" edits by 8 January 2011. By the time Lucas retired from editing in February 2012, he had made 28,632 edits to the wiki, well over that of any other user.[g] After MicroWiki's domain move on 7 November 2013, Ciprian (Cip) was the first user to make an edit. Since Cip, five individuals have held the top spot for most edits on the site: Jonathan I of Austenasia (Austenasia), Ned Gunderson (Mikejones), Tarik Karjasari (Ricky), John of Baustralia (KingdomOfBaustralia), Zabëlle Skye (ZabëlleNB) and the current holder Dhrubajyoti Roy (Oritsu.me). With 63,470 edits as of 2 April 2023, the user has held this distinction since 4 December 2022.
The article listing users by their edit count was created on 22 March 2019.
Relationship between edit count and skill
Edit counts are a crude and inaccurate measure of determining an editor's skill or worth ("quality over quantity"). There are a number of reasons why a user's edit count usually does not indicate quality of work, the quality of said editor, or the significance of their contributions to the wiki. Many editors who are high on the list perform routine tasks that require less time per edit such as fixing typos, maintaining templates, adding ambox templates, updating and maintaining lists, reverting vandalism or creating redirects; conversely, users who create a number of long new pages or make major additions might easily spend a week or more undertaking research before editing, and appear much lower on the list, if at all. Additionally, some editors use the 'Show Preview' button until they are satisfied with a particular (possibly very long) edit, while others will habitually save a succession of small changes as they go. Lastly, some editors may excessively edit pages in the user namespace, especially their own userpages (also called sandboxes) when making test edits.
List
The list
The following table lists the one-hundred users with the largest edit counts,[h] as well as whether or not the user is an administrator. Edit counts are updated automatically via the MediaWiki extension Special:Editcount, which takes its edit counts directly from the server. As of 15 March 2023, in order to be included on this list a user must reach an edit count of 1,823. 93 users have over 2,000 edits, 68 over 3,000, 48 over 4,000, 43 over 5,000, 32 over 6,000, 26 over 7,000, 22 over 8,000, 19 over 9,000, and 16 over 10,000. Seven users have edit counts greater than 20,000 edits, and four have over 30,000. Zabëlle Skye (ZabëlleNB) is the only user with 50,000 edits and Dhrubajyoti Roy (Oritsu.me) is the only with 60,000 edits.[1][2]
- This lists only the top 100 most prolific editors, however, the count may exceed 100 if a tie exists for the 100th-highest edit count
- While edit-counts are automatically updated, ranks have to be updated by hand and may therefore be outdated.
Highest edit count progression
Since 7 November 2013
Although MicroWiki was founded on 27 May 2005, all prior edit counts and page histories were erased after MicroWiki moved its domain from microwiki.org.uk
to micronation.org
on 7 November 2013. Additionally, MicroWiki was originally hosted on Wikia (now Fandom) from its foundation until the community moved on 14 November 2010. These edits counts, alongside those of microwiki.org.uk
, are not counted on MicroWiki's current software. Ciprian (Cip) was the first user to make an edit to the new domain after the move. Ciprian's edit count was overtaken on 15 May 2014 by site owner Jonathan I, Emperor of Austenasia (editing under the account Austenasia), upon reaching 827 edits. Ned Gunderson (Mikejones) briefly overtook Jonathan I on 18 November 2015 with 2,802 edits, followed by Jonathan I retaking the top spot on 27 December with 2,953 edits. On 1 March 2016, Tarik Karjasari (Ricky) briefly occupied the top spot for a period of seven days with 3,297 edits before being overtaken by Jonathan I with 3,334 edits. On 15 May, Gunderson reclaimed the top spot upon reaching 3,581 edits. On 15 April 2019, after holding the highest edit count for 1,065 days, Gunderson was overtaken by John, King of Baustralia (KingdomOfBaustralia) after John reached 15,659 edits. On 7 November, Zabëlle Skye (ZabëlleNB) reached the highest edit count on MicroWiki upon reaching 18,607 edits. Skye was eventually overtaken by Dhrubajyoti Roy (Oritsu.me) on 4 December 2022 with 53,840.

Footnotes
- ↑ Only edits made after 14 November 2013 were counted.
- ↑ If a user renames (moves) a page, that adds a history entry on both the old and new names of the page to show that the page was renamed, and therefore counts as 2 towards a user's contributions count. If the page being moved had a talk page, which was renamed as well, that counts as 2 more, so a single move can add up to 4 to a user's contribution count, while it would add 0 to the server count.
- ↑ Deleted edits are edits that are no longer accessible to non-administrators—these include edits that have been manually deleted and edits that were made to pages that were deleted. As an example, if a user tagged an article for speedy deletion and the article was subsequently deleted, the server count continues to reflect that now-deleted edit as having been made and thus includes it in the total edit count.
- ↑ As Special:Editcount attempts to create more detailed results by relying on looking through Special:Contributions and counting edits there, it does not include deleted edits. Deleted edits, which are only visible to administrators, are not counted on Special:Contributions; therefore this edit count of contributions is often lower than the server count.
- ↑ Though a controversial issue, all edits made on MicroNations Fandom after 14 November 2010 should not be counted, as it is considered a separate wiki unaffiliated with MicroWiki; see migration from Wikia.

MicroWiki.co.cc
was chosen as the temporary domain for MicroWiki on 14 November 2010. Managed by Pierre d'Égtavie, all pages on MicroWiki (content pages, talk pages, templates, user talk, etc.) had to be manually imported. Lucas, an administrator, took the liberty of doing this strenuous task, leading to his edit count immediately skyrocketing. While the exact number of articles MicroWiki had at the time is unknown, Lucas had reached "almost 16,000" by 8 January 2011.[3] As he began importing articles on 14 November, it is highly likely that Lucas set the record for highest edit count probably after d'Égtavie—which is probable to assume d'Égtavie would have likely made at least a single edit—and remained the editor with the highest edit count until MicroWiki switched domains and lost its original edit revision data. By the time he left in February 2012, Lucas had made 28,632 edits to the wiki.[4] - ↑ The total number of users listed may exceed one-hundred if a tie exists for the hundredth-highest edit count.

Luna Skye 2 and Example; however, for reasons of brevity they are not listed here.
