The Principality of New Eiffel, the erstwhile European micronation, was a member state of the Micronational Olympic Federation (MOF) between 12 February 2019 and the micronation's dissolution on 1 November 2020. New Eiffel joined too late to participate in the 2019 MOF Games, which commenced between 16 February and 15 March and were hosted by the Millanic Confederation. New Eiffel made its MOF games debut and only appearance at the 2020 games, which was hosted by the Gymnasium State between 14 February and 28 March. New Eiffel was represented by a single athlete, Zabëlle Skye, who preformed poorly in most events. However, he won silver in Agar.io—a massively multiplayer online action game—thus earning New Eiffel its only medal. The micronation was tied for seventh place (out of nine positions), alongside four other micronations. New Eiffel's MOF code was NEI.

Skye had also served as the Vice-President of Sanctioned Events between 5 August 2019 and 1 November 2020, during which he created the MOF Rock Paper Scissors Tournament after the success of his own rock-paper-scissors tournament, the 2019 Micronational Rock Paper Scissors Tournament.

The Micronational Olympic Federation (MOF) is an intermicronational organisation dedicated to creating, hosting, and scheduling micronational sporting and eSporting events, colloquially the Micronational Olympics. It was established on 7 January 2018 by the government of the Principality of Posaf, and the minister of foreign affairs, Nicholas Randouler, was appointed executive president. The inaugural 2018 MOF Games were quickly organised by Randouler and commenced between 15–26 February between six micronations. The event was proven to be a success after gaining recognition intermicronationally, leading to an increase in membership which put the MOF above the Micronational Olympic Group—the only competitor to the MOF within the MicroWiki sector. The MOF would continue to grow in membership, accepting prominent micronations such as the Royal Republic of Ladonia and the Gymnasium State into the 2019 MOF Games, which commenced between 16 February–15 March and was hosted by the Millanic Confederation.

History

As New Eiffel became a member state of the MOF on 12 February 2019, it was too late to participate in the 2019 games. However, the government immediately announced its intent to participate in the 2020 games, for which it would be eligible. As reported in The New Eiffel Times, the government of New Eiffel hoped that participating in the MOF would increase the micronation's diplomatic outreach and reception in the MicroWiki community. However, in a message posted by Zabëlle Skye—Prince of New Eiffel—to the MicroWiki@Discord instant messaging server on 23 March, he stated that "[on participating in the 2020 MOF Games] we haven't decided yet".

Between 29 July–5 August, Skye hosted the jocular 2019 Micronational Rock Paper Scissors Tournament, which he created, between 16 micronations. A rock-paper-scissors tournament hosted by New Eiffel, the tournament was affiliated with the Organisation of Active Micronations—also founded by Skye—and consisted of three, single-elimination matches played online. On 5 August, following the successful conclusion of the tournament, Randouler approached Skye and offered to promote him to the office of Vice-President of Sanctioned Events and integrate his rock-paper-scissor tournament into the MOF. Skye agreed that same day, and the tournament was rebranded as the MOF Rock Paper Scissors Tournament.

Bids

On 14 March 2019, New Eiffel placed a bid to host the 2021 MOF Games. Voting for the host micronation commenced around June between New Eiffel and five other micronations—the Official Kingdom of Arbreland; Millania; the Tsardom of Phokland; Posaf; and the Republic of Slavistonia. Voting, for which all member states were eligible, commenced in three rounds. In the first, New Eiffel received four votes alongside two other micronations as Millania and Phokland dropped out after receiving zero votes. Slavistonia had the most votes with six. In the second round, New Eiffel remained in at four votes as Arbreland and Slavistonia dropped out with three each. Posaf received the most votes, ten. In the final round, New Eiffel and Posaf tied at eleven votes, so the "first vote rule" was enacted with Posaf having gotten six first votes and New Eiffel five first votes.

On 15 February 2020, New Eiffel placed bids on both the 2022 and 2023 MOF Games; however, the micronation dissolved on 1 November 2020 before either games' host micronations could be voted upon.
