Translated lyrics

New Eiffel, New Eiffel shall stand tall, New Eiffel shall prevail, watch its flag in the wind
A great nation, a wonderful micronation, lots of culture, unique
Standing against the wind, a kind micronation, brave and peaceful, strong and unified
Micronation of glory, hear our battle cry.

The national anthem of the erstwhile Principality of New Eiffel was "Stand Tall, New Eiffel", a set of lyrics in five languages—English, Afrikaans, the Arabtemporarian constructed language, Hungarian and LOLspeak—adopted on 21 January 2019. Written by Zabëlle Skye, the anthem was inspired by the national anthem of South Africa and replaced the previous anthem, also written by Skye, "Friendly, New Eiffel", which had been adopted on 30 August 2018. Despite this, the unofficial national anthem was "Aardvarks on Parade", a song composed by Walker Schroeder of the Unitary State of Swivia on 20 May 2020. However, due to the crisis in New Eiffel resulting in government shutdown, the anthem was never proposed nor enacted into law by the micronation's dissolution on 1 November.

History

Neither the Republic (31 December 2017–4 June 2018) nor Kingdom of New Finland (4 June–11 August 2018), the predecessor states to the Principality of New Eiffel, possessed any national anthem. This was because no citizen knew how to compose music. According to the Royal Archives, Zabëlle Skye, then-President and later King of both micronations respectively, had made at least a handful of unsuccessful attempts to compose and write a national anthem. During the Kingdom of New Finland, Skye asked citizen Janus Smith to compose an anthem for the micronation by playing the recorder. No records documenting the process are known to exist, but it is believed that no such song was ever completed.

New Eiffel, then called New Temporary, was founded by Skye on 11 August, and he immediately chose Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night) as the first documented national anthem of the micronation. A string sextet in one movement, it was composed by the Austrian-American composer Arnold Schoenberg in 1899. The reason why Skye chose Verklärte Nacht is unclear. On 30 August, Skye changed the national anthem to a set of lyrics he wrote called "Friendly, New Eiffel". Inspired by the national anthem of South Africa, the lyrics were in multiple languages—English, Hungarian, Afrikaans and Latin. On 21 January 2019, "Friendly, New Eiffel" was replaced by "Stand Tall, New Eiffel", which Skye also wrote. Its lyrics too consisted of multiple languages—English, Afrikaans, the Arabtemporarian constructed language, Hungarian and LOLspeak.

"Aardvarks on Parade", the unofficial anthem

Despite having written it, Skye came to heavily dislike the anthem. On 27 April, Walker Schroeder, then-Chancellor of the Unitary State of Swivia, advertised on MicroWiki's official Discord server, MicroWiki@Discord, that he was writing music and offering it to micronations to adopt as national anthems. Skye, now prince of New Eiffel, approached Schroeder and requested an anthem, later asking for it to incorporate trumpets. The song was still in the planning stage by 27 December, as Schroeder admitted he had unintentionally became preoccupied with other lines of work, before finally being finished on 20 May 2020 and named "Aardvarks on Parade". However, due to the crisis in New Eiffel resulting in government shutdown, the anthem was never proposed nor enacted into law by the micronation's dissolution on 1 November. Although the song was fully instrumental, a lyrical version had been written and proposed by New Eiffelic statesmen Isaac "Cadno" Richards.
