Deputy Governor of Imruland is the deputy representative of the King of Imruland appointed by the governor. He will be made acting Governor if the governor dies, resigns, abdicates, or impeaches. Though the post was created on 16 July 2023 by the third amendment of the constitution, the first Deputy Governor was appointed on 1 September 2024. The current Deputy Governor is Shezan Khan.
History
The monarchy in Imruland was established on 23 December 2022. On that day, then President Imrul Kayes declared the end of one-man republic in Imruland and declared a constitutional monarchy. He proclaimed himself as the King of Imruland and took his name Imrul I. Showib Ahmmed was appointed as the chief advisor aka representative of him. The post name of the Chief Advisor was changed to Governor by adopting the third amendment of the constitution on 16 July 2023 following the 2023 Imruland political crisis. The post of Deputy Governor was created on the amendment but the first deputy governor was appointed on 1 September 2024. Though the constitution does not define any term length of the deputy governor, Governor Showib Ahmmed announced that the deputy governor's term will be 1 month and non-renewable. New Deputy Governor will be appointed on the first day of each month who will leave the office on the last day. The first Deputy Governor is Mahitul Islam Leone who was appointed for September 2024 and the first woman Deputy Governor is Mithila Mimi who served on the office on October 2024.
Powers
The Governor is the de facto head of state of Imruland and has all the powers of King. His power is equal to the King on his absentia. The Deputy Governor's power is equivalent to the Governor and takes all responsibility of him in his absentia. Like the Governor, the Deputy Governor is not responsible to anyone for his actions except the Governor. The Deputy Governer stands above all existing state laws. So no case can be filed against him in any court of Imruland.
