Sharif Al Sadiq is a Bangladeshi-Imrulian judge who is currently serving as the foreign minister of Imruland since 18 August 2024. Previously, he had served as the Chief Justice of Imruland from 28 October 2022 to 10 March 2024 that made him the longest serving chief justice in the history of Imruland. Besides, he also served as speaker (in additional charges), deputy speaker of the parliament and cabinet minister in several times. He is one of the five national heroes of Imruland.
Early life
Sharif Al Sadiq was born on 2 April 1996. He completed his high school education from Janatabug High School in 2013 and higher education from the Greenland Polytechnic Institute. He was moved to Noakhali, Bangladesh in 2021 and is currently living in Jatrabari, Dhaka.
Career in Imruland
Sharif Al Sadiq joined Imruland in October 2022. He was appointed as the deputy speaker of the parliament on 6 October by Vice President Shams Chomsky Rafi. He served until 28 October and then appointed as chief justice on the day by Vice President Showib Ahmmed. He was unofficially suspended for 3 days to violate the rules of Parliament of Imruland on 1 November. He is the longest running chief justice in the history of Imruland. As chief justice, he ruled on the most-discussed Arpon Shikder vs State case that resulted in the 2022 political crisis.
Sadiq is a member of the Imruland Intelligence Agency (IIA) and the Imruland Constitution Drafting Committee. As a member of IIA, Sadiq played an important role to bring back stability in Imruland during the political crisis. He is called one of the four heroes of Imruland for his contribution during the crisis. Sadiq was named a member of Imruland Election Commission for the 2022 and the 2023 presidential election. The 2023 election was controversial as the losing candidate boycotted the result. He was also a member of the starting committee of the Imruland Constitution Drafting Committee. He is a member of the committee till now. He was honored as the National Hero of Imruland on 30 September 2024 for displaying outstanding bravery in safeguarding the security and sovereignty of Imruland in all crises including the political crisis as a member of the IIA.[1]
Sadiq was removed from the office of chief justice on 10 March 2024 after serving for 1 year 134 days and was appointed as the law minister in the cabinet of Ishtiak Mahfuz Abdullah after two days. He served until the end of Ishtiak's premiership on 14 June 2024. He was appointed as the foreign minister by Prime Minister Mohammad Noyon on 18 August 2024.[2]
Controversy
Sharif Al Sadiq was a member of the Imruland Election Commission. The controversial 2023 presidential election was arranged under the commission. The losing candidate Nazmul Hasan Fahim boycotted the result that resulted the political crisis. Later he joined the Imruland Lords Association led by Fokhrul Sazzad and Nazmul Hasan Fahim. He served as the Vice President of the party from 1 January to 24 May 2024.
