Mahitul Islam Leone, or simply Leone, is a Bangladeshi-Imrulian politician who is currently serving as the deputy speaker of the parliament of Imruland since 26 June 2024. Previously he had served as the deputy governor in September 2024 and deputy speaker from 24 May 2023 to 27 March 2024. He is the longest seving deputy speaker in the history of Imruland. He is the secretary of Imruland Legend Committee. He was awarded the Brobel Prize in the field of Sports, the highest civilian and humorous award of Imruland, by the government on 30 September 2024.
Early life and education
Leone was born on 4 November 2002 in Manikganj, Bangladesh. He completed his high school education from the Savar Cantonment Public School and College in 2019 and college education from the same institution in 2021. He is completing B.A in Engineering from Southeast University. He is currently working as Fighting President in the Bangladesh Messi League (BML).
Career in Imruland
Mahitul Islam Leone joined Imruland as a member of the Parliament of Imruland in 2023. He worked in different ministries in different times. He had served as the state minister of science & technology from 13 February to 7 May and minister of road transport and bridges from 7 to 24 May 2023 in the cabinet of former President Fokhrul Sazzad. He was appointed as the deputy speaker of the parliament of Imruland when President Showib Ahmmed came to power on 24 May 2023 and served until 27 March 2024. He was again appointed on the post on 26 June 2024.[1] He is also a member of the Imruland Lords Association since the 2023 Imruland political crisis. On 28 May 2024, Governor Showib Ahmmed appointed him as the special envoy of Imruland to the association to act as a mediator in the context of disputes between the government and the association. He served on the post until 18 June. He was appointed as the Deputy Governor of Imruland on September 1, 2024 for 1 month. He is the first deputy governor in the history of Imruland.[2] He is also the secretary of Imrulian legends council "Imruland Legend Committee". Leone was awarded the Brobel Prize, the highest civilian and humorous award of Imruland, in the field of Sports on 30 September 2024 for establishing himself as a playful boy, constantly playing with fairies one after another and displaying outstanding sportsmanship.[3]
Controversy
Leone was convicted by the Supreme Court of contempt of court on March 27, 2024. The court ordered him to be suspended from his post for 3 days on this charge. He was re-appointed on the post on 26 January after announcing the cabinet of new Prime Minister Mohammad Noyon.
