The President of Imruland was constitutionally head of state and later on de facto head of government of Republic Kingdom of Imruland. The post was abolished on 15 July 2023 by the enactment of 3rd Amendment of Constitution of Imruland.

History

Imruland was established on 16 July 2022 by the fans of Bangladeshi cricketer Imrul Kayes. They made Kayes president of the country. He was installed officially on the post on 30 September 2022. In that time, the vice president was de facto head of state as president was not available. President Kayes declared the transition of the country from dictatorship to constitutional monarchy on 23 December 2022. The president had been de facto head of government from that day. The first president election was held on 30 December 2022. First elected president took oath on 31 December. The 2nd and last president election was held on 10 June 2023. The post was abolished by 3rd amendment of the constitution on 15 July 2023.

Powers

The President was the head of state of Imruland and de facto head of government. He was not responsible to anyone for his actions. The President stood above all existing state laws. So no case could be filed against him in any court of Imruland. He was the supreme commander of the Imruland Armed Force. He appointed the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister and other cabinet members. He also appointed the Chief Justice and the Attorney General of Imruland. He convened a session of Parliament of Imruland. The President could expel any cabinet member and any parliament member. He could declare state of emergency inside the country. He also could waive or delay any verdict granted by any court, tribunal or other authority. He could be impeached by a two-thirds vote of parliament on serious charges.

Vice President of Imruland was the deputy head of state and later on de facto deputy head of government of Imruland. He could act as President in his absentia. He was appointed by the President. He was accountable to president for his actins. The post was abolished along with the post of president.
