He proclaimed himself as the President of Imruland on 10 June 2023 during the starting night of the 2023 Imruland political crisis.

Early life

Sheikh Mizan was born on 2006 in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. He completed his high school education from the Cantonment Board High School Mymensingh (CBHSM) in 2023. He is currently completing his college education from the Ananda Mohan College of Mymensingh.

Career in Imruland

Sheikh Mizan joined Imruland as a member of the parliament in 2022. He was appointed as the State Minister of Weather & Disaster Management on 30 September 2022 when the first official cabinet was formed. He served until 21 October. Mizan was again appointed on the cabinet as State Minister of Sports on 7 December and served until 31 December. He was not taken in the cabinet during the term of President Fokhrul Sazzad.

Presidency

President Showib Ahmmed resigned from the post of president as well as chief advisor without naming anyone as his successor following the allegation of rigging against his government on the 2023 presidential election that resulted the 2023 Imruland political crisis. After his resignation, Vice President Sobuj Hossain, Speaker Muzahidul Islam, Chief Justice Sharif Al Sadiq, Education Minister and President-elect Safat Zareef Hassan, and many other cabinet members resigned simultaneously. There was no one to inherit the presidency. Sheikh Mizan proclaimed himself as the acting President of Imruland and took charge of Imruland government at 2 am. He dismissed everyone of the government after assuming the post of president. He also ordered to arrest the presidential candidate Nazmul Hasan Fahim. He ordered everyone to refrain including Fokhrul Sazzad from insulting the ruler. He appointed Fokhrul Sazzad as the Speaker of the Parliament of Imruland after bringing Akiz Bidi for him. He gave Sazzad the title of Gopal Bhar after calling Sheikh Mizan's presidency as pranking and dismissed him from the post of Speaker. Showib Ahmmed returned to parliament the next day on the request of self-proclaimed president Sheikh Mizan. The short tenure of Mizan ended after the returning of Showib Ahmmed.

Post presidency

After the January 2024 prime ministerial election, Prime Minister Ishtiak Mahfuz Abdullah appointed Sheikh Mizan as the Public Administration Minister on 27 January 2024. He abused the Prime Minister and the Governor as Chutiya on 29 January. The Prime Minister unoficially removed Mizan from his post for the incident. Mizan returned to the cabinet after apologizing for his actions. Governor Showib Ahmmed appointed Mizan as the 4th Chief Justice of Imruland on 10 March 2024.

Mizan actively participated in the 2024 Bangladesh quota reform movement. He joined the protest at Townhall in Mymensingh.[1] He was attacked by the Chhatra League activists during a protest on 18 July.[2]
