Relations between Saint-Castin and Sancratosia have been notable within micronational circles, owing to their geographic proximity, shared language among official representatives,^[a] and cultural similarities.

The diplomatic channel between Saint-Castin and Sancratosia was established on 2 March 2022, marking the beginning of regular interactions between their delegates. Their first face-to-face meeting occurred on 19 March 2022, which also represented the second meeting between member states of the Conference of Santiago and the first one held outside of South America. Formal diplomatic ties were solidified with the signing of a bilateral treaty on 21 January 2023.^[1]

Both nations are active members of several intermicronational organizations, including the Organisation de la MicroFrancophonie, the Laurentian Micronational Cooperative Union and the Conference of Santiago. This shared membership underscores their collaborative efforts and mutual interests in promoting micronational diplomacy and cooperation.

Saint-Castin and Sancratosia are set to co-host MicroCon 2025 alongside the Aerican Empire, highlighting their commitment to fostering international dialogue and hosting significant intermicronational events.

History

Diplomatic relations between Saint-Castin and Sancratosia were initiated on 2 March 2022, marking the beginning of ongoing communication and collaboration between the two micronations. Since then, their respective envoys have engaged in discussions covering a wide range of topics, including Canadian and Quebec politics, municipal governance in Quebec, and broader issues related to micronationalism.

Delegates from Sancratosia and Saint-Castin have met in person on many occasions, facilitating deeper discussions and exchanges on shared interests and concerns. Their engagement has extended to participation in intermicronational events, notably attending MicroCon 2022 together, where they further strengthened their diplomatic ties.

On 21 January 2023, Saint-Castin and Sancratosia formalized their diplomatic relations by signing a treaty. This milestone underscored their commitment to mutual cooperation and marked a significant step forward in their diplomatic partnership.

Saint-Castin and Sancratosia both hold membership in a number of intergovernmental organizations including:

Political views

Saint-Castin and Sancratosia share numerous socio-cultural elements and align closely on many political goals, fostering a strong diplomatic relationship between the two micronations.

Canadian and Quebec politics

As both Dominic and Cloe, the main delegates of Saint-Castin and Sancratosia respectively, are Canadian citizens, they hold views on various topics related to Canadian and Quebec politics. While their perspectives often converge, minor differences may arise due to their affiliations with different political parties.

Human rights advocacy

Both Saint-Castin and Sancratosia are staunch advocates for human rights. They are signatories to the Augusta Accord, an international treaty aimed at combating micronational transphobia and protecting transgender and nonbinary individuals within micronational communities. Both nations maintain a critical stance towards micronations that violate fundamental human rights principles.

Promotion of French language

Dominic and Cloe, both native French speakers with Quebec French as their first language, actively promote the use of French in their respective micronations. However, there are distinctions in their language policies: Saint-Castin maintains a bilingual French-English website and encourages the use of indigenous languages, whereas Sancratosia promotes Lingua Franca Nova on social media but predominantly uses English on its official website.

Indigenous rights

Both delegations uphold the rights of indigenous peoples in Canada and Quebec. Saint-Castin has formally recognized several indigenous languages as regional languages and actively promotes their use within its territory. In contrast, Sancratosia does not currently have an official policy regarding the use of indigenous languages.

Independence of Quebec

Both Saint-Castin and Sancratosia recognize the right of Quebec to pursue legal secession from Canada and achieve sovereign nation status. Despite this shared view, differences in political party affiliations and strategies to attain independence exist between the main delegates of the two micronations.
