Ribbon of the Order of Saint Arnald

The Order of Saint Arnald (Portuguese: Ordem de São Arnaldo) was a national and dynastic order of knighthood of the Kingdom of Ebenthal. It's current Grand Master is King Arthur II. The Order of Saint Arnald was the only Ebenthali order or award paying reference to a currently instituted religious entity. The order was abolished in 4 December 2020.

The order was established in 2020 by King Arthur II as a dynastic order attached to the national pantheon of orders and awards in substitution to the former Order of the Mountain Star. It was inspired by the ficticious legend of Saint Arnald, a holy entity and patron saint to a legendary homonimous city on which walls his rock-carved face magically provides cozy rice to the people, preventing the poor to starve. That day would be celebrated as the day of Saint Arnald.

History

Origin

The legend of Saint Arnald tells of a city located in the coast of a mountain near to a cursed valley. This nameless city was the birthplace of Arnald, a mighty and religious warrior who promoted a feast for it's poor citizens annualy and eventually died protecting the city from the dark creatures in the woods, ultimately being canonized by the church and thus coming to be known as Saint Arnald (not mistake for Saint Arnold). To honot him, the church ordered the carving of his face in a wall on the city's main square, but as soon as the saint's face was carved, magically the mouth of that rocky face opened liberating tons of stewed white rice. Since then, once a year the statue provides rice on the same day, which came to be celebrated as the Day of Saint Arnald, and the nameless city was named after him.

Abolition

In 4 December 2020 the College of Peers of the Realm formally abolished the Order of St. Arnald, following the King's renunciation of mastership over the order.
