The Ministry of State for Defense (Portuguese: Ministério de Estado para Defesa), formerly and sometimes still called Ministry of War, is a ministerial department of Ebenthal responsible for conducting the country's defense and promote its military interests. The ministry sets the budget, appoint the head of staff of the military and oversees its actions. Traditionally the Ministry of Defense, who is appointed by the Archchancellor, is also the head of staff of the military, but this is not a requirement, thus formally keeping the civil control of the military. As a member of the Pact of Malmünd, Ebenthal's Ministry of Defense commonly acts in conjunction with the equivalent ministries of the pact's signatory states
Defense policy
According to government, there are four main points in Ebenthal's defense policy: to defend and contribute to the security and resilience of the Kingdom of Ebenthal through all means, contribute to improving the understanding of the world through strategic intelligence and the global defense network, conduct strike operations as well as operations to restore peace and stability, defend the country's sovereignity and support humanitarian assistance and response to disasters.
