The Great National Assembly (Romanian: Marea Adunare Națională), often called the Parliament of Juclandia is the sovereign power of the Juclandian Pragma.

It meets in the Palace of the Great National Assembly in Jucărești the last Sunday of every month, but the constitution also provides for the possibility of the Assembly meeting outdoors, in the Piața Marii Adunări Naționale (Great National Assembly Square) in Ihrașcodar (formerly Paradissi), a neighbouring municipality of Jucărești.

It is a unicameral legislature based on principles of direct democracy: the Constitution automatically grants membership in the assembly to every 'national citizen' of Juclandia. National citizens are non-human (cuddly toys), whereas the human citizens are defined as 'federally-sanctioned citizens'.

When the 2012 amendment to the 2011 Constitution was in force, it was a bicameral legislature of 37 members (25 deputies and 12 senators), elected for an yearly term, but between 2008 and 2012 the Great National Assembly was unicameral and had 30 members elected for an yearly term.

On 29 November 2014, the Great National Assembly was dissolved in its entirety and was replaced with a National Constituent Assembly that drafted Juclandia's 2015 Constitution, which entered into force on the 1st of May.

History

The parliamentary history of Juclandia starts in 2001, when the nation was founded. Although the country had no constitution or legislative organisation at all, the Country of Toys was run by the "Sfatul Țării" (lit. Counsultative Assembly of the Country), which was made out of citizens of Juclandia.

The first Constitution of Juclandia, adopted in 2006, paved the way for a legislative assembly, and the People's Consultative Assembly was in place for some months, after it was replaced by the bicameral legislature of Juclandia that lasted until 2008.

Between 2008, when the Constitution of 2006 was revised, and August 2012, when the Constitution of 2011 was revised, the Parliament (after the adoption of the 2011 Constitution called the Great National Assembly) was unicameral. Prior to the 2008 Constitutional Amendment, the Parliament of Juclandia was bicameral and consisted of the Senate and the People's Assembly. From the Revision of 2008 until the Revision of 2012, the attributes of the Senate were taken by the State Council of Juclandia, and the attributes of the People's Assembly were taken by the Great National Assembly.

The Constitutional Revision of 2012 has once again brought bicameralism to Juclandia. The Great National Assembly was transformed in a bicameral legislature, with the Council of State (which has taken the attributes of the State Council) as the upper house and the Assembly of Deputies (which has taken the attributes of the Great National Assembly) as the lower house.
