His Majesty's Army, or simply the Royal Army, is the land based combat and defense uniformed service of the Kingdom of Florenia. The Royal Army is responsible for all defense of the Kingdom based on land, and is the larger of the two Florenian uniformed services, alongside the Florenian Royal Navy. The Royal Army is made up of one major regiment, the Royal Guards Regiment, which is made up of two battalions, first battalion and second battalion auxiliary. The Royal Army currently has two individuals on active duty, and one individual in reserve forces.

Structure

The structure of the Florenian Army is officially fairly complicated, but at its core is quite simple. The organizational system of the Royal Army is based largely on the structures of most modern Armies, and is outlined in the Ministry of Defense Act 2012, given royal consent on the 11 of August of that year. At the largest, the Army is split into different Corps based on the region that they are tasked with occupying militarily. Divisions are the groups within Corps that divide Brigades into the type of soldier that they are made up of (e.g. Footmen). Brigades are split into Regiments, which are the most essential and unifying groups of the Royal Army. Regiments have names, and are not numbered like most other military units (e.g. Royal Guards Regiment). Battalions are also largely important, and split soldiers in the same regiment into smaller groups. Companies are the last full military division, and are the groups that divide Battalions. If it was ever needed during wartime, Companies could be split into Platoons, and platoons into squads, which are both truly minute groups, made up of few soldiers.

Each unit has an individual assigned to its command, Officers for the largest and most permanent divisions, and senior enlisted individuals for the lesser commands. The most important commander is the Colonel of a regiment, who is the direct commander of the regiments, the most important groups of the Army. Colonel Prince Nathan is the most senior officer, and commands the Royal Guards Regiment.

Officers

Officers are the tactical and administrative leaders of the Army. They are placed in positions of command, and receive a commission from the Monarch. Officers most often receive their commission after the completion of training by the Ministry of Defense. They must have administrative skills, leadership skills, and knowledge in protocol, as well as tactical skills and knowledge in field operations.

Enlisted

Enlisted ranks are the lower members of the Army who are placed under the command of officers. Lower ranks, such as Private and First Private, are intended to be the most commonly held in the Army, whereas Sergeant grade ranks are known as non-commissioned officers, who assist commissioned officers in the leadership of units. Any individual can enlist in the Army after basic training, whereas to receive a commission, officers must undergo more intensive skill training.

Currently, the most important and actual division is the Royal Guards Regiment, largely because it is commanded by the most senior military official. The higher units of the Royal Army (Brigades, Divisions, and Corps), are not commanded by any individuals and are largely inactive.
