Ebenthaler Federative Act
The Ebenthaler Federative Act (Portuguese: Ato Federativo Ebentálico) is the name given to Law No. 16/2021 together with Special Decree No. 1/CCLG by which the Ebenthaler then-principalities of Aldiva, Carlenburg and Alvorada were abolished and substituted by the provinces then-named Geraldorf, Altentupiland and Lyns, in 19 November 2021. The law for abolishing the three principalities' monarchies was proposed by Prime Minister Henri Sãens, furtherning his unitary policy, while the decree changing the denominations was imposed by Luso-Germanic Cultural Commission.
Background
In 8 September 2021, in a twist, Lord Henri Sãens was appointed Prime Minister of Ebenthal with a proposal to transform Ebenthal into an unitary state, recognizing the fait accompli that half of the country's federative units barely had internal political activity to justify the expenditures with those regional governments, while the other active half would do better if working cohesively with the central government instead of fighting it as occasionaly happens. Henri also argued that micronations, specially when they're monarchies, lean towards a strong centralized government in order to survive.[1] To that end, Henri and the Moderate Party engaged in gathering support at the House of Councillors for the abolition of the federation, but facing difficulties,[1] including doubts by parliamentarians as for if this law would be positive or not, and bureacratic difficulties, since such a law (an EEE) would require more than a simple majority to be approved, at the advice of Raphael Sousa, and supported by the President of the Republican Party, Alessandro Rosas, Henri opted for a gradual transformation, with laws that cemented his ideas. In 1 November he firstly spoke of abolishing the inactive principalities,[2] which sparked a reaction from the Federal Princes of Negromonte and New Switzerland, fearful that such changes would reduce their power. Representatives of those principalities also spoke againts Henri's unitary program, some of them fiercely, even threathening civil war and secession.[1]
The law
Assuring other politicians that their complains were unfounded, Henri took advantage of the 14 November House of Aristocrats creation of the Luso-Germanic Culturla Commission to present the House of Councillors with a bill for the immediate abolition of the three principalities of Aldiva, Carlenburg and Alvorada which would fall under direct federal control, transforming Ebenthal into an asymmetric federation. Simultaneously, the Cultural Commission would change those three principalities names to Geraldorf, Altentupiland and Lyns. The law was voted in 19 November with a surprisingly overwhelming positive votation and was approved and sanctioned that same day as Law No. 16/2021.[2]
According to the law in force, the abolished principalities became provinces under direct control of the central government, ruled by a King's Commissioner appointed by the King. Furthermore, the Cultural-Commission enacted the Special Decree No. 1/CCLG, by which Aldiva, Carlenburg and Alvorada were renamed Geraldorf (Geraldo's village), Altentupiland (Ancient Tupi land) and Lyns (germanization inspired by Lins de Vasconcelos).
