2014 Malindo Conflict (Indonesian: Konflik Malindo 2014, also known as Masalah Malindo tr. Malindo Problem was a conflict occured in Indokistan and Omahkulon part of Malindo (previously named Ivanesia), which was divided between both countries after an intervention in 2013. Ivan Hermawan, a honoured citizen of Omahkulon that has signed agreement with Omahkulon leader Tommy N. to not to conduct foreign relations without leader consent, led a rebellion against the government and asked for foreign assistance to "free" Malindo.

Malindo so-called allies (Fiharaja, Państwo Braterskie, UDE, and UDN) then defended Malindo and threatend Indokistan and Omahkulon to leave Malindo or face an attack. A friend of Indokistan and Omahkulon, Excellent, was then wrongly attacked by Malindo allies.

The conflict ended in March 16. A decisive victory of Indokistan and Omahkulon, after the largest supporter of Malindo, Pantswo Bratskie, left the conflict to defend Malindo and switched sides. Fiharaya also decided to not to support Malindo after its leader, Omar Laode, said that Malindo is no longer important. He then retracting his support from Malindo.

Background

Ivanesia (predecessor of Malindo), founded and led by Ivan Hermawan, was an Indonesian micronation established in 2013. Ivanesia was an opponent of the whole of AIM members because of its dangerous behaviour that annoyed micronational leaders, which later decided to blacklist Ivanesia. Instead of improving its behaviour on conducting foreign relations, Ivan Hermawan became even more dangerous. Ivan's action later caused micronational leaders, led by Rayhan Haikal and Tommy N., to authorise an intervention in August 2013. Ivanesian leader Ivan Hermawan, which previously showed opposition on the intervention, later declared his support.

After tripartite agreement, Ivan Hermawan agreed to divide his landclaims to Indokistan and Omahkulon and would receive Omahkulon citizenship with special rights.

"Simoueh" Phenomenon

Ivan Hermawan, the main opponent of the conflict, was known to publicly promoting his "religious belief" called "Simoueh". Ivan's obsession towards Simoueh made micronational leaders inside Indonesian sector getting annoyed. This indirectly caused the climax of the conflict.

Events

This incident was first triggered by a question asked by one of Malindo friends from Panstwo Bratski, which asking whether if Indokistan "invade" Malindo which was responded by a provocative "yes" answer. Another friend of Malindo, Fiharayan Republic later defend Malindo by stated that he will defend Malindo from any attacks from foreign powers. Saying those who invaded as "coward and worst losers", Anthony Thomas from Excellent later replied against that statement, and then was falsely attacked by Fiharaya.

Ivan Hermawan later asked for foreign helps to defend his "Malindo" from Indokistan and Omahkulon, which later succeeded to gathering foreign support from foreign friends. Meaningless dialogue and argument are executed by both sides to persuade each other, which usually ends in fight. Association of Indonesian Micronations then decided to took this problem seriously by giving political supports for Indokistan, Omahkulon, and later Excellent.

The conflict ended when Excellent and Fiharayan sides finally decided to get in peace, which later Fiharaya declares their end of support to Malindo. Malindo greatest supporter, the Pantswo Braterskie also later declaring their end of support to Malindo, and instead switching side becoming against Malindo. Meaningless and weak, yet ignorable attack from Malindo are launched from Malindo as on the last day of the conflict, before all belligerents decided to ignore the Malindo and ended their business with Malindo, regardless.

Aftermath

The victory of Indokistan and Omahkulon made the loser - Ivan Hermawan - forced to face judge trials on a newly-established AIM Supreme Court, which later cancelled because it seems "unrealistic", especially because he was deemed insane. This conflict also becomes one of the factor that unites the brotherhood of micronations inside Indonesian sector, especially AIM members.

Despite of his defeat on the conflict, Ivan does not stop resisting. This was known after his new country, Micronational Gevelomen Simoeh and his blog, leaked to open world. Prior to the latest resistance by Ivan, the government of St. John, despite being uninvolved in the conflict, has declared embargo against Malindo (which takes effect until 2019, when the embargo was lifted), and a declaration of war also made by the government of Al Rasyid Darussalam against Ivan-related micronations.

After the conflict, several former belligrents sided with Ivan Hermawan and Malindo made a denial on their siding during the conflict. In February 2015, PB representative denying that they entered the conflict and said that they doesn't involved in the conflict, despite of opposing evidences. Shortly after that, RF leader said that he should not be remembered as belligrent on the conflict, demanding revocations on "claims" that RF was involved.

Foreign responses

  • Arkapore - Arkaporean leader Tian Abdurrahman declared that Arkapore will remain neutral. This declaration was criticized by Indokistan because the intervention to Ivanesia in 2013 - which became the cause of the conflict - was executed during Tian presidency, which forcing him to hold responsibility on the conflict.
  • Association of Indonesian Micronations - AIM was remain supportive on Indokistan and Omahkulon. AIM also contributed in several attempts of peace talks between both belligerents. AIM Supreme Court also established thanks to this conflict. Indirectly, this conflict becomes one of the factor which increases the brotherhood feeling of each members.
