The Imperial Armed Forces of Millania and New Granada is the National Military Force of Millania. The Emperor of Millania is the military's commander in chief, and helps formulate defence policy through the Ministry of Homeland Security, which is in charge of day-to-day operations. The Armed Forces consists of the Imperial Army of Millania, Imperial Navy of Millania, Imperial Aviation Force of Millania, and the notable sub branches of the Imperial Guard of Millania, Millanian Maritime Aviation Squadron, and the Millanian Naval Infantry Force. Although the National Police Force of Millania is technically not part of the military, it is controlled and administered by the Ministry of Homeland Security, and has a highly militarized structure not found in most of the world's law enforcement agencies, such as a distinction between enlisted and officer ranks. The Imperial Armed Forces is known for its service in the Granadine-Cornosian Wars. In peacetime, the Armed Forces are mainly used for the internal defense, police, and border security force of Millania.
Branches
Army
The Imperial Army of Millania (Spanish: Ejército Imperial de Millánia) is the land military force of Millania and the largest and oldest service branch of the Armed Forces of Millania. It is responsible for carrying out land-based military operations along with the Marine Infantry Corps (Infantería de Marina) and for protecting the Millanian Empire against domestic or foreign threats.
The modern Millanian Army has its roots in the Millanian Common Armed Militia (Ejército de los Comuneros), which was formed on 16 October 2017 – before the establishment of the present day Millania – to defend the provisional government at the time. After the Millanian Declaration of Independence, Emperor Santiago Ramá I created the Greater Granadine Army, to replace the disbanded Common Militia.
The Millanian Navy, officially the Millanian Imperial Navy (Spanish: Armada Imperial de Millánia y Nueva Granada), also known as the "Armada", is the naval branch of the Armed Forces of Millania. The Navy is responsible for protecting Millania and its interests in its rivers, lakes, and seas (as well as a few small land areas under the Navy's direct jurisdiction) by means of naval force.
Infantería de Marina
The Infantería de Marina (English: Marine Infantry Corps) the naval infantry force of Millania. It is a force that not only serves alongside the Army to defend and conquer land (the latter of which is done via amphibious warfare), but also doubles as the Navy itself. The corps exists because the Millanian Army needed increased support during the Granadine-Cornosian Wars due to low manpower. It consists of one sole regiment containing one battalion: the First Marines Battalion.
Aviation Force
The Millanian Aviation Force (Spanish: Fuerza Aérea Millániana) is the Air Force of the Union of Millania and New Granada. The Millanian Aviation Force is one of the five institutions of the Armed Forces of Millania, charged with working to exercise and maintain control of Millania's airspace and to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and order. It is notable for containing the only piloted aircraft in any micronational air force.
Maritime Aviation Corps
The Millanian Maritime Aviation Corps Squadron is the naval air force of Millania. It is charged with working to exercise and maintain control of Millania's marine airspace (and exclusive economic zone) and to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and order. The Corps was part of the Navy until 2018, when the Aviation Force was reformed.
Cosmonautic Force Corps
The Millanian Cosmonautic Force Corps is a military body dedicated to the research of nuclear and generally explosive technology, as well as launching spacecraft into the stratosphere and into orbit for national use. Its predecessor, the Stratospheric Agency of Millania, was integrated in 2020 in order to consolidate all air based operations in one single force.
Air Force Special Commandos Corps
The Air Force Special Commandos Corps is the air force ground force of Millania, and was created to support the Army where needed during wartime if battle became more prevalent on land. Doubling as the Aviation Force itself, it is charged with the protection of Millania's only air base, located in San Pedro.
Imperial Guard
The Imperial Guard of Millania is a unit of the Millanian Armed Forces devoted to the protection of the Emperor and Imperial Family of Millania. It is also tasked with various ceremonial duties, such as parades and state visits. The Guard reports directly to the Imperial Household rather than the Government, making it the only branch of the Armed Forces to directly be controlled by the Emperor. The Imperial Guard is unique in a sense that it consists of only three regiments the size of Brigades. The Guard is instead headed by a Primus Pilus, the equivalent of a Four-Star General.
Police
The Imperial Police Force of Millania and New Granada is the national law enforcement agency of Millania. It is a military force charged with police duties, and reports directly to the Ministry of National Defense (or the Ministry of Fiscal Affairs in Customs operations). Although the National Police Force of Millania is technically not part of the military, and has a highly militarized structure not found in most of the world's law enforcement agencies, such as a distinction between enlisted and officer ranks. It is composed of the entire personnel of the Military, and is only present in peacetime due to this fact.
