Elections for 6 out of the 7 Mayor seats in Plushunia were held on 28 June and 5 May 2020. The election used a two-round first-past-the-post system, and resulted in a landslide victory of the Democratic Liberal Party and of the PNL + PNȚCD + PC Alliance, the two parties winning 3 seats each out of the 6 which were contested in the election. No other party managed to win seats, this election being known as a heavy electoral defeat for the Social Democratic Party, which only won 18.6% of the popular vote and no Mayor seats, an all-time low for the party.
