Orders, decorations, and medals of Gapla

The orders, decorations, and medals of Gapla are a system in which a variety of government orders, decorations, and medals, controlled by the Monarchy of Gapla, are conferred onto citizens (and rarely non-citizens) of the Federated States of Gapla. Awardees can choose to accept or decline the award, and the Sovereign Prince has the power to revoke all awards.

Many of these awards come with insignia, such as ribbons and medals, as a commemorative symbols of belonging to an order, which are sometimes given by the government for free to the awardee. However, the awardee usually needs to purchase them from the government or, unofficially, a third-party company. Ownership of insignia is not a requirement for any award.

History

Awards have been used to honor Gaplan citizens since 2019, the first of which was HRFSG (Heroes of the Revolution of the Federated States of Gapla). This award was founded in late 2019 to honor the heroes of the Gaplan Revolution, an important historical event in which the Gaplans defeated Michael Hubbard.

Since then, a variety of honors and orders have been created and removed. The honors system underwent a large reformation at MicroCon 2022, when the presentation of the awards of other micronations inspired a change in Gapla's highly outdated honors system, which consisted of awards attainable only through achievements in early Gapla. Wyatt Baek and Chelsea Chen discussed and unveiled the first version of a new honors system at the conference, and the honors system today is a revised version of that system.
